I won't paint the rationale of every religious person who has ever existed with a broad brush, but I think the origin of man's obsession with the idea of a creator does come from the fear of not being able to explain every aspect of the world around us. A lot of people seek purpose and want to believe everything they're doing with their life has counted for something greater than what they're capable of comprehending at the moment. Coming to grips with the idea that we're baselessly floating all alone on a rock somewhere in the cosmos can be an incredibly scary thought to confront. It makes us feel vulnerable. We don't like to think about all these forces beyond our control that have the capacity to do us harm. It's much easier on us psychologically to imagine that we're protected by something almighty.

Mostly because her talking points about "attacks" on Christianity are way to similar to those of Christian right-wingers. She is out to make a quick buck that's it. I wouldn't be surprised if you see her 10 to 15 years down the line in the role of some Mega-preacher or writing a book about how she went from atheism to Christianity in which she highlights her past as a godless atheist.
