Which is your favorite?

(and btw, if you want to argue about what is 'progressive post-hardcore' and clash over genres, take it somewhere else. i'm open for discussion, but just choose the band you enjoy the most, and state why)

these are just the ones i thought of off the top of my head, sorry if i excluded some good ones, already regret not including Facing New York. oh well.

Check out The Cancer Conspiracy.

I'd probably go with The Mars Volta from this list, but I haven't heard a lot of them.

Instrumental post/prog/math-rock is about the best I can do as far as describing it.

Get the album The Audio Medium.

Circa Survive, Mew, At the Drive-In, Bear Vs. Shark. Some others on there are good too, but not as good.

no Small Leaks Sink Ships? :(

EDIT: nevermind, they don't even lean to the post-hardcore genre.

Out of these I'd go with The Mars Volta...but I also voted for Circa, Coheed, and At the Drive-In.

as expected Circa, ATDI, and Coheed top the list so far, surprised at least one person remembered YouInSeries, that band fucking shredded.

I can't agree that This Town Needs Guns is post-hardcore but they're probably my favorite. Harvard is a very close second, and I don't agree with the genre on that one either.

And all I said was that I didn't agree at all. I'm not fighting anyone about it, though I do think almost the entire list is a little ill-picked for 'post-hardcore'. But in the end, I don't really care because genres are so hard to assign nowadays anyway.

this town is pretty much a math rock indie band, but i through them in w/the rest. that's the best way i can describe them. no big deal.

Speaking of indie/math rock, have you heard Pharaohs? They're British and a little poppier than TTNG, but they're amazing.

prog rock is definitely one of my favorite genres

i like a handful of bands on this list but i just can't turn down the Mars Volta. they win for me, hands down.

EDIT: I'd throw RX Bandits on this list too. pretty darn good.

link?

edit: i've noticed a lot of british bands happen to be math rock / math rock leaning. is that because of Foals' success? i've always wondered.

good. this is 100 x better than the one i found.

edit: yeah the vocals are beyond nasally for me, but they have the right idea. wish they'd push the math tendencies more, but good shit, could get into it.
