Branden is no longer the drummer of The Used (http://www.absolutepunk.net/theused).
Dear Friends.
It is with much sadness that we want to tell you that Branden is no longer the drummer in The Used. We felt that we needed to move forward without Branden as our drummer. We wish Branden well, and owe a great deal of gratitude towards him for his hard work over the years. We could not have gotten this far without him. We all wish much happiness and success in Branden's future endeavors - wherever they may lead.
No new drummer has been chosen yet.
We are almost done recording the album and it should be released in early 2007.
We are very proud of the songs so far and can't wait for you to hear them.

the band always makes it sound mutual and sad.

this is quite sad.
and i have a bad feeling i'm going to be disappointed by their new stuff. whenever in 2009 it comes out.
brenden was is an amazing drummer as well as a super sweet dude.

wow this guy was super talented, that's too bad. I don't know if I know the finch story, but from what I remember it was something along the lines of they wanted to go a different direction and papas just didn't have the chops to play what they were asking of him...it that was the case, then I really don't see that being the problem here.

Branden is such a kickass drummer...One of my favorite things about the Used is the drumming.
I hope they can find a good replacement.

This band really fell off the face of the earth after their self titled and their mediocore follow up, too bad though, this band was destined to be pretty sucessful.

I'm hoping they're not fucking him out of the band... The Used is going to be COMPLETELY different now... if they fucked him I'm going to lose A LOT of respect for them... I don't even know if I'll pick up the new album cause like someone said before, the drumming was a big factor in my opinion of what made the Used awesome... weird.

yea brenden will definately be missed. they started the group together, it's going to be sad to see someone else behind the kit. he was a good drummer too.
i wonder what the new used will sound like....?

i saw this earlier today in another 'used' thread....im kind of 'taken aback' by the whole situation....but at the same time it dosent surprise me...like someone said earlier he probably got sick of the other guys partying too much.

Lame lame LAME!! For a band like The Used....I kind of feel like it's an all-or-nothing deal, it's just not going to seem right w/o branden. I agree that this could definitely be "the beginning of the end," but we'll see.

He was probably sick of Bert snorting crack off his cymbals.
This guy was a SWEET drummer (well, he still is). I remember reading in AP magazine once that these guys had two different tour buses because the drummer hated all the partying and he wanted his own space. They never even talked to each other off stage. I can imagine that would lead to something like this.

yeah, that's what I was gonna mention. Cuz i think he's sxe or something close to that, and the other dudes where just crazy fucks. He seemed like a real cool guy. Hope The Used don't disintegrate

This really saddens me. I remember when they first started off and it was soo refreshing to see a group of friends make it and succeed together like they did. I just watched the Maybe Memories DVD and it brought a smile to my face to see them together and make it big together.
I hope there aren't any hard feelings between the members.

bert cant sing live to save his life. in their live tracks on itunes, the autotune is painfully obvious.
and it took me about 2 tries to learn the guitar parts for most of their first album, and im not even that good.
dont get me wrong, I enjoy listening to them, but I dont think they can touch branden as far as how good they are at what they do.

I heard they asked Rich, the drummer for madison, to be the new drummer and are really pushing for him, but rich had to think about it.

Wasn't it Branden who got the band together in the first place? That really sucks. He was a solid drummer. I met him at Warped a few years back and he was cool. I'm guessing he got screwed out of the spot because I doubt it was mutual. As some one said, the partying definitely could have lead to it. I loved their self-titled CD (just threw it on after I read the news). It was one of my favorite CDs for quite some time. The follow-up was alright but not nearly as good. Now I'm really skeptical about their new stuff.

Really, no offense, but that would be quite a noticeable downgrade. Unless Rich was really dumbing down his playing to fit what Madison was trying to do, I don't think he's talented enough to play these parts verbatim, but that's just my opinion
