it's 20 minutes away from me... there's nothing else on TV/radio than news. Right now there's 21 people hospitalised, 2 deads(one is one of the shooter) and they evacuate around 15 000 people, one of the other shooter might be hiding in the metro station.

i just spoke to my mom (she's in Montreal), she said that the reports keep changing as to how many shooters there are. She said some police person said that a shooter was "neutralized". They also evacuated the mall attached to that school, as there may have been shootings in there as well.
what was the motive? (if any) were the shooters students?

Basically, there is one suspect who is dead. One who has been "neutralized" which the police won't elaborate on. Because there's a couple of underground shopping centres right around there, they think there is another hiding somewhere underground. There was firing in Alexis Nihon plaza, then the shooter apparently went accross the street to the college and fired some shots in the cafeteria there.

i can't tell from your profile where you're from, so i'm taking a guess that you don't know how the quebec education system works. college in quebec isn't like college in the states. students graduate high school in quebec after grade 11, and then they go to cegep (our version of college), which has preuniversity programs or vocational programs. i was 16/17 years old in cegep, and i would definitely have referred to myself as a kid at that age.
therefore...(cegep)college students=kids.

We had a bomb threat at my school before and the S.W.A.T came. no one acted any different. We have shootings at our school all of the time but they are directed at certain people. never a random shooting (or as bad) as this. the ones we get shoot one person and thats the end.

The ecole Polytechnique shootings of 1989, it wasn't a girls school, it was a coed school. The gunman targetted the women inside the building.
I was just reading an article on the cbc about this shooting, and they had mentioned it has similarities to 1989 shooting, which yeah, a shooting happened at a school, but the similarity as far as we know ends there. I haven't heard any reports that the shooter(s) separated the boys and girls and only aimed at the girls in this case.

i attend Dawson, and i have to say it was the fucking scariest day of my life. it started off with some girl getting a text message that there was someone with a gun in school...so she tries running out of class but she is told to get out of the hallway by some teacher. so me and about 30 other kids were stuck in out class for 40 minutes, just listening to the gun shots, over and over. i am seriously surprised that there wasnt more injuries...i tried calling my mom but as soon as i dialed i just felt that i was going to cry, so i said id call her if i got out of the school. all i could think about was that i didnt want to die, and didnt want to get shot...but as time went on and i heard the gunshots get closer, i was just thinking "please just make it quick and shoot me in the head"...the scariest part was when someone looked out the window in the door and jumped and hid behind the desk...i was sure that i was going to die, but luckily it was the police to lead us out...so far there are no deaths, my cousin in california read there have been 4 deaths...but there hasnt been any so far, just the shooter's death.
edit: this blonde chick on the news just said that this shooter guy was with friends....but the police keep insisting there was only one suspect which was "neutralized" (which we later were told means was "killed")...i know that before i started watching the news, i was hearing reports of 4 or 5 people involved with the shooting....why cant police just report the truth...

Also, the first line says that he was dressed in black with a mohawk, why should that have any bearing on what he did. If he had blond hair and a polo shirt on, would it make the crime any more tolerable? All this is going to feed is more hate for people that dont deserve it. yes, it was horrible that this person opened fire and that he ruined so many lives, but it doesnt mean people that dress in black or have strange hair need more fearful spectators. The media is going to spin this in such a horrible way, bullshit.

well the one in 89 was slightly more twisted than the killer entering a female school....he entered the University...went into a classroom, and told the guys and girls to go into opposite corners of the room...he then went ahead and shot all the women with an automatic gun. his reasoning was that he felt that women took his place in the university

well, this is unrelated news, but i found out that a girl that was missing for about a week or so here in colorado was murdered by her stepfather, and he killed her mother and himself also.
she went to my school.
my school has only about 1000 kids right now.
