Wow. It just won the Palm D'Or. I hope this helps raise a lot of interest in his brilliance.

Guess it's time to get watching Tropical Malady, Mysterious Object at Noon and Blissfully Yours, as Syndromes and a Century is the only one of his films I've seen.

eternally indebted to Dan for his recommendation of this wonderful director's films. I adore Tropical Malady.

not really much of a surprise, as a lot people at Cannes were predicting this to win the Palm. I, too, need to start watching more of Weer's stuff.

I saw a lot of people saying it SHOULD win, but I thought Another Year would absolutely take it.

A lot of talk going around saying this years Cannes had only a couple good films and this being Joe's (Apichatpong Weerasethakul) masterpiece.

Haven't heard about any of these films, will have to check out a couple though.

I love the setting and the pacing of the trailer for Uncle Boonmee. Looks beautiful.

You like it more than Syndromes and a Century? That would be almost impossible for me...

Definitely not on the same level as Syndromes , but even Weerasethakul's flawed films are better than 95% of the films released in a given year.

What's that in the second post then? ;-)

Well, I saw it when I was like 19, and I'm pretty sure I didn't understand a second of it, AND I don't think I even finished the entire thing. So I've come to determine that I haven't really seen it.
