Browsing, I only see hypothetical mix tapes in this forum so, in this thread, post mix tapes you've given or received.

This year, me and my girlfriend broke up. I'm transferring to another university and didn't feel like it would work out and, since she's endlessly into mix tapes, i made one to say goodbye. The tracklist to my mixtape went as follows:

I’m not sure if you’ll enjoy this as much as I do, or if this is really a good mix, but I trust my ears and your patience. Here’s the thing: this was supposed to be a love mix for whoever girl I would’ve dated next. But hey, I figured, why give this to one girl whom I’ve never even met before when I can let the whole world enjoy it instead? So that’s exactly what I did. I won’t look forward to most of you checking this out, since I know y’all got tons of stuff to do, but I’ve put my heart in this. And the only reason it’s posted here is maybe, just maybe, another person would love it like I do, or if I get lucky even two. I’m opening the possibility that someone might stumble upon this randomly, and for some reason click it, and enjoy it. And that might change his life, for the better. And that would be pretty awesome. I may not get credit for it, but shit, I just changed a life.

You might know most of the songs in the mix, but that doesn’t stop it from being a damn good mix. The mix describes the finite ways you can fall in love, and the ways you cannot, the ways you can forgive the same dude and love again, or the ways you can move on and stay single or date again, whichever floats your boat. It looks cheesy on paper (or on tumblr if you insist) but it’s actually a bit darker than I thought. So eh, I’ll let the music do the talking from here on (except when you realize there are notes on the download). I really hope you enjoy it. I mean I really do. It’s around thirty minutes long, long enough to make you feel something but short enough for you to enjoy and not bore you to death. And hey, if you do like it, tell a friend. It makes all the difference in the world.

Well, now that explains everything but that's the beauty of a mixtape, it shows the feelings you had at that moment. As time passes and you get exposed to more music you'll always want to edit certain things but then it wouldn't be the same. Haha

This is the second of my infinite series of acoustic mixes. I'm extremely pleased with how it came out. It begins with a 'sunrise' followed by morning/daytime songs then in the middle is a sunset interlude followed by night time songs. Enjoy!

I made this for a girl I met in college in April, and I thought she was like the best thing...ever haha. she was a prospective student staying at the University for a weekend, and I had a blast with her. I'm not a big mix maker because I find I tire of them quickly, but I can remember the last two I made. The one I made as a Valentine's gift that had every song that reminded me of the boy I gave it to. I couldn't keep it anymore in my iTunes because it was just too sentimental to keep running into. But I still have the last one I made to ease someone into "indie" music. It was definitely indie-lite, because some indie stuff is way out there and I didn't want to scare them off of the genre completely. I have two friends who are also really good friends with each other. They go to the same school, so they see each other all the time, but I feel guilty because I'm bad at keeping in contact with them. I'm going to visit Florida over winter break and I wanted to tell them via letter with these mix CDs, but the way things worked out, I wound up just telling them. I made the actual playlists before Thanksgiving break, thus the names "Autumn Hands/Autumn Lungs." One of my friends plays cello/piano and the other plays mostly sax, so that's why I used hands/lungs, so they'd have some music in their life during finals when they probably wouldn't have as much time to play. There was supposed to be some artsy cover and whatever, but whatever. Also, each mix is supposed to have a combination of artists they know and others I think they might like, so that it's not all completely foreign to them or something they've heard countless times. I also tried to keep that autumn feel with most of the songs I picked. This probably all sounds really odd, but whatever.

Always be is a beautiful song, I'll always be there for her, Little Razorblade is purely to cheer her up and then the spill canvas/something good can work are both about moving on and finding someone else. The Cure> The Girl are contextually the new relationship being better than her last and Hammers and strings is simply a perfect way to end it :)

We know sites like 8tracks exists, and that's such a great way to hear what people have created. We've been trying to upload mixes to mediafire when possible so people can download all the songs. Our main focus is still the physical mix with cover art that someone made, and the feeling of finding it in your mailbox. We're always toying around with new ideas and looking for suggestions on how we can expand the idea.
