View Full Version : Best Alternative LP/Album of the DECADE
So I basically tried to sum up the most notable Alternative LPs of the years 2000 till 2010.
Definition for Alternative (for this thread!): Alternative, Punkrock, Pop-punk, emo, hardcore, post-hardcore, indie, etc...
NO NEED FOR GENRE-DISCUSSIONS HERE!
I know - your fav' LP is missing in the list.
But I chose the LPs that had the most impact, success, media, influence, sold copies, creativity and good reviews by the pros.
If you chose: "Other" - then please write it down here.
Feel free to discuss.

the devil and god out of these. although there are probably 100 albums that could be held at the same tier as these.
they aren't bad choices by any means, there are just some albums that are in or above this company.
;)
These are the ones I listed up while I was bored in school.
But I know I forgot some - that's why there's "Other".
But thx for your post.

1. FOB
2. JEW
3. TBS
The Brand New, Rise Against, Green Day, New Found Glory, and Used albums you listed aren't even the best any of those bands have put out in the past decade (that would be Deja, Siren Song, Warning, Sticks & Stones, and S/T, respectively), let alone the best overall.

AI is considered by many as Green Day's musical peak. Same with TDAGARIM. I love Deja, but musically TDAG is on a "whole. nother. level". This is Best Alt. album of the Decade, not favorite.

all of these choices make me question what qualifies as "alternative".

Justin Bieber is considered by many to be good. Public opinion/acceptance of something doesn't make it the "best".

I had to go with Devil and God because it had to most impact with me in early 2007 when I lost my Mom. Every song was something different for me

well is there a reason why in love and death is here...not self-titled?
all of these choices make me question what qualifies as "alternative".

I Know, but I never call those sub genres alternative.

The Black Parade. But TDAG, Tell All Your Friends, Take This to Your Grave, and Bleed American are all great too.
Kind of a weird poll IMO
I Know, but I never call those sub genres alternative.
I've been searching for a term that expresses all the mentioned subgenres..so i went with alternative.
;-) Nice that you care
Why is it a weird poll?
:-P it's 10 years now..a decade with a lot of great lps.

Hell yes to those first two.
The selftitled blink is undisputed - to me.
Timeless.
Fast songs, slow songs, aggressive, smooth....perfect.

I wouldn't call any of this albums the album of the decade, but from the list I chose Take This To Your Grave

The '59 Sound is for sure the best album of the last 10 years. Maybe not for everyone, but it really means a lot to me.
It's really a good album.
But somehow I think it would not rly fit in this list.
I think TGA's musical peak is not reached yet.
;-) wait for american slang.
