I live near Philly, and I just don't think they have it. Blackhawks in 6.

Hawks have more talent, but I think people underestimate the amount of talent on the Flyers team. Flyers probably won't win a game 7 in chicago, so I'm saying Philly in 6.

Anything but. Regardless of who the Habs play, I hope they lose every year as their brand of hockey is one I don't care for (Plekanec embodies this by becoming a 13-year-old girl every spring) and they boast the worst fanbase in the entire league (perhaps in all professional sports). Loud, ignorant, bandwagon-jumpers who only care when their team wins.

As for Philly, I've been with them from the second they acquired Pronger. Just a perfect addition both because he is a cup final magnet who has refined his play post-lockout and because he can provide a helping hand where leadership is concerned. He's gotten to the point where he doesn't even need to be physical because his positioning and stickwork is so sound. No one controls the flow of a game like he does. He did it when he led Edmonton to the finals, he did it when he led Anaheim to a cup (where he was robbed of the Conn Smythe because he was suspended while Niedermayer was not), and he's doing it now. Then there's Mike Richards who is just the perfect two-way forward. Best captain in the NHL who might not beat you with flashy skill or blazing speed, but he'll come out on top with pure force of will. His shift in game 5 against Montreal when he steamrolled Bergeron, set up Coburn on the PK, backchecked hard, dove to create a chance on Halak, and then potted the goal in an empty cage was one for the ages. Easily my favorite player around. Hard not to root for a guy who plays like this:

6Nr2OQAlXAc

However, I still feel Chicago has the edge for two reasons. Firstly, I suspect the Hawks' forward depth will outmatch that of the Flyers as Sharp, Hossa, Bolland, and Versteeg will both outplay and outscore Briere, Leino, Hartnell, and Giroux. Toews, Kane, Buff vs. Richards, Gagne, Carter will probably be a wash. One can only hope JVR sees Kane at the other end of the rink and lifts his game to another level. Secondly, while both goalies are average (despite hype and stats), Niemi isn't as shaky and Leighton will crash back to earth against a squad that actually goes to the net for greasy goals.

All that being said, can't wait for Saturday. Woo long post.

I kind of hate the Habs for beating the Penguins. Thus, the cycle goes on.

I've always liked Richards, but his play in game 5, particularly the shorthanded goal, gave me a new respect for him. He's the kind of player that every team needs to win a championship, even if he doesn't stand out like Ovechkin or Crosby on a stat sheet.

i hate them both, but Chicago is stronger
also, there's no way the city of Philly gets/deserves 2 major sports championships in only a few years
God would never allow that after the way they treated Santa Claus at the Eagles game. Nope - it's the Hawks.

i'm with you... Cleveland fan... at least this year the expectation isn't there so i can just make Major League jokes all season (i know, the topic is hockey, but the Indians just happened to be the current example since i don't even want to think about the future of the Cavs, or lack thereof)
and for the record, i am pulling for the Flyers - the lesser of two evils.

I just think it would be funny for Marian Hossa to lose in the finals three years in a row with three different teams

People are way too serious these days.
It was a fucking joke and by the way, my "point" was the prediction of the finals.
The originality is a strong argument, though, SunnyInPhilly and I concede the point.
Cheers to you.

Haha, you can be as loyal to a team as you want and still know they're not gonna win =p

I'm sure Detroit residents aren't gonna pick the Lions to be in the Super Bowl this year lol
