I was thinking about this a lot during work today, and it took me a while to decide. I think I'm Wide Awake... wins by a nose. But its so close since Lets Not Shit Ourselves is one of my favorite songs ever.

I'm Wide Awake is my favorite album ever. Lifted has some great songs, as you mentioned, but that's no match for a quality record cover-to-cover.

I would probably pick Lifted if it didn't include Lover I Don't Have to Love. I'll take I'm Wide Awake by a slim margin.

I'm Wide Awake by quite a bit actually

Lifted is definitely my favorite album from Bright Eyes.
EDIT: Fevers and Mirrors is actually my favorite. But out of these two I still stick with my answer.

pretty much one of the hardest decisions ever, I always change my mind. right now I'll go with Wide Awake, but ask me again tomorrow and I'll probably say Lifted.

Of these two, Lifted.
I'm actually a little surprised at the results so far.

I'm wide awake... is an incredible album. I'm probably a little bias because that was the first BE album i picked up, but i own both of these and i continue to return to IWAIM rather than lifted or the story...

What about the others?
Well I was looking at the Absolute Classics lists and noticed Lifted on there, so I figured I'd put it up against what I'd say is arguably Bright Eye's most successful album. Define successful however you may.
Plus there's the fact that I love these two albums to death and don't listen to the others nearly as much.

Same. Except I play Cassadaga a lot.

I had to think about it for a few minutes but it has to be I'm Wide Awake considering it's one of my favorite records.

I'm Wide Awake.
Morning trumps everything they've done for me.

A girl once gave me a copy of I'm Wide Awake to listen to...I didn't give her the attention she deserved in the end, sadly, but the album changed the way I look at music.

Lifted.
I'm Wide Awake is a watered down version of Lifted.

Lifted, by a landslide. That album was the soundtrack to my teenaged angst.

i dont think there's much of a wrong answer here. i picked i'm wide awake.. just because i've listened to it more but they're both so incredible.

Lifted for sure. I was thinking about this yesterday on an 11 hour car ride. Lifted is my favorite Bright Eyes album I think, though Cassadaga and Digital Ash are super close. I'm Wide Awake is fabulous but it's not my favorite.
Lifted, just barely. I like the rawer sound to it, even though I'm Wide Awake is his lyrical masterpiece by far.
I think since so many people on here got into bright eyes through Wide Awake[I] they have a more emotional attachment to it. I discovered bright eyes through [I]Fevers and Mirrors and I still love that album. But, I also agree that Lifted and Wide Awake are their two best albums. And I feel Lifted is a stronger record back to front.

Wide Awake has even better lyrics than Lifted.

It was very hard for me to vote for Wide Awake over and album with amazing lyrics like this:
"The picture is far too big to look at kid. Your eyes won't open wide enough
and you're constantly surrounded by that swirling stream of what is and what was.
Well, we've all made our predictions but the truth still isn't out.
But if you wanna see the future, go stare into a cloud.
And keep trying to find your way out of that maze of memories.
It all sort of looks familiar, until you get up close and it's different. clearly.
But each time you turn a corner, you're, you're right back where you were
and your only hope is that forgetting might make a door appear.
Well is it your fear of being buried that makes you so afraid to speak?
An avalanche of opinions like the one that feel that I am now underneath.
It was my voice that moved the first rock and I would do it all again.
So, I mean, it's cool if you keep quiet, but I like singing."

Bright Eyes is my favorite band, so this was really hard, but cover to cover I'm Wide Awake is a better album. Some of my favorite songs are on Lifted though. Also, I feel like Cassadaga deserves to be on here.

I'm truly saddened at the thought of anyone voting wide awake in this poll.
