Another best album poll? YOU BET!

The other night I popped in Bleed America and remembered how much I love that album.

So lets discuss! GO!

I feel like Bleed American is the one that will withstand the test of time the best, and will be remembered. But Futures will always be my favorite, so that's where my vote went.

Over/under on how many times people correct "Chase the Lights"?

Between Chase This Light and Futures with CTL getting the edge.

I wish I could pick and choose songs to put on one album. Then make it have the same production so it would sound the same.

I haven't had much time with 'Clarity', and I was going to choose 'BA' at first because it's got more variety + is consistently good throughout...but I chose 'Clarity' because there's just something about it, it's overall sound, the cohesion, and timing of it.

Bleed American.

That being said, I've never really spent quality time with Static Prevails much. I should remedy that soon....

i'm kinda tempted to put futures before clarity... it's close

For me it's Clarity, probably Futures/Static Prevails (it's hard to place SP since it's so different, so I'll say it's a tie for second), Bleed American, then Chase This Light.

I still love Bleed American and Chase This Light though, to have those albums on the bottom of any list is a testament to how amazing this band is.

Clarity should be winning hands down. I also figured futures would be on top of Bleed American.

I was surprised Clarity wasn't atop the list either, but it's also, to be honest and at risk of losing my cool scene points, not my favorite album of theirs. It's a really great album, but Futures is my favorite. Just a great album through and through. Of course, they have yet to release anything even remotely sub-par.

First of all, I'm shocked by these results.

Best album? Clarity.

Futures is one of my all time favorite records though. I'm second guessing my choice actually. Futures is just too good IMO. JEW hasn't put out a bad record so there's also that...

Real tough between Bleed American & Futures.
I'll never get the obsession so many seem to have with Clarity (at least, with those who dismiss the rest of their catalog after it.)

I have to say, there's no such thing as a bad JEW album. But if I had to choose, I'd go with Futures, just over Bleed American. Then Clarity, Static Prevails, and lastly Chase This Light

That logic is just stupid.

Well, let's see; one having listened to Clarity would surely choose it over anything else, (imo of course.) Following that same reasoning, one choosing anything else over Clarity surely has not listened to it. Pretty basic stuff.

With that said, I love all of those albums.

And as a shout out I'd like to thank Jim Adkins for introducing me to Frightened Rabbit.

I understand & respect that, which is also why my very next post in this thread stated "imo, of course." My surprise at the results probably made my comment seem more douchey than was intended. Still, smart money says that anyone not considering Clarity a hands-down classic for the emo scene of the late 90s either discovered it too late or hasn't given it a proper chance. Again, imo.

I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of those who did not vote for 'Clarity' haven't given it a fair chance (or listened to it at all). The average voter's age is probably like 15 of 16.

majority, possibly. two years ago, i would've definitely said clarity was their best (and i also thought futures was their worst). however, recently futures just sort of grew on me out of nowhere, and now i consider it the best. i can acknowledge clarity's historical significance, but i really think futures is where the band shined the most, even though none of their other albums are that far behind.

For me it's between S/T and Futures... both are amazing albums and today I went with Futures.

Clarity is also a great album, but I still don't feel it holds a match to the two mentioned above. It's a step below along with Chase This Light. Jimmy Eat World is one of my favorite bands ever, but I will never fall into the camp that thinks Clarity is their best.

Why no love for Static Prevails? It's not their best by any means, but I love it.

I would go:

Clarity
Futures
Static
Chase this
Bleed

I like all of them, but I'd put Bleed last. It's not as consistently solid as the others imo. There are some great tracks, but I have to be in the mood to listen to Bleed American. The others I can listen to anytime.

I'm shocked that Clarity isn't dominating this poll.
I voted for Futures, though, just because I seem to listen to that one more often than the others.
I got really tired of Bleed American because those songs were EVERYWHERE - movies, commercials, tv shows, award shows, the voices in my head, you know... everywhere... (I still love the album of course)

It's one of those that everyone says is incredibly well written and everyone loves yet I've never thought it's that great. It has some really good songs but I think Futures, Bleed American, and maybe Chase This Light are better written than Clarity.

Not many bands constantly release great albums. Jimmy Eat World is one of those rarities. Since Clarity, they always deliver! Anyway, this is how I'd rank their full lenghts:
