this band should have broken up when john and shaun left. seriously.

no they should've just changed their name. as far as i'm concerned it's a completely different band now--even though only 2 members left.

i think its great that they kept on going. They did it for the fans who loved the first album. If they had broken up it wouldve just shown that they are a failure && cant do jack shit. && now they r even bigger and r with a major record label.they did the right thing

yea but their music has gotten progressively worse since john and shaun left. if you compare TAYF to WYWTB and louder now, it's almost like they're two different bands--and that's what i consider them.

yeah...i think of Taking Back Sunday and Taking Back Sunday 2. WYWTB and Louder Now is no where near TAYF

well not every band makes every album sound exactly the same. alot of fans get bored with everything sounding the same. i mean TAYF was thier best album but i still love louder now. they are just trying to make it more interesting.louder now is more dark then the rest of thier albums
thejetstolehome
09/23/06, 12:45 PM
louder now's also their worst album. i'm not saying they should've sounded the same from album to album but as soon as john left that band, they lost something. they lost that raw emotion that was in "tell all your friends" that made me think taking back sunday was the greatest thing ever. i just think they're an average band now--not the amazing thing they were when TAYF came out.

As much as I hate to admit it, I feel the same way about A City By the Light Divided. I liked the first five songs, but totally lost interest after that.
As for Louder Now, I think it's great. I like every Taking Back Sunday album!
To the original poster (to whom nobody has replied, haha) it's bound to be on YouTube, so search for it there. I thought it was on launch as well...

TAYF is average.
The music side (meaning vocal melodies, guitar parts, drums, bass, structures) of TBS has gotten so much better since the begining. I loved TAYF, then I grew up.
Everyone who disagrees with me is wrong.

i do listen to straylight run and TBS. and IN MY OPINION, i think they're no where near as good as they were 5 years ago and i don't think they ever will be. there will forever be something missing as far as i'm concerned.

Lyrically, TBS are horrible now. The lyrics don't make any sense anymore. I get nothing out of lines like "A long night spent with your most obvious weakness/you start shaking at the thought/you are everything I want/'cause you are everything I'm not" that aren't personal at all. They're just cliche, cheesy, and lame. I miss when they had lines like "You've got me right where you want me/let's never talk about this again because I didn't want it mean that much to me anyway" and "wearing your black eye like a badge of honor/soaking in sympathy/from friends who never loved you/nearly half as much as me/Broken down in bars and bathrooms/all I did was what I had to/but don't believe me when I tell you 'it's just what anyone would do'".
I used to be able to understand what Adam and John were singing about. These days I just don't give a fuck.

bingo. that's why i think they've become just an average band. they're nothing special anymore like they were w/TAYF.

they used to be really special...i liked Louder Now for about a week, but now i cant listen to it. i just think theyre are so many bands a lot better than them out there right now.

right. with "tell all your friends" they were on the top of the fucking world. "where you want to be" is better than "louder now" but neither hold a candle to 'tell all your friends.'

hi, first post.
tbs won't ever make another TAYF again. the members in it now dont have the sound that they once had, stuff that only john knows how to make. that cd is a one-of-a-kind cd that when you put it on, it makes you think, you can feel it, and you can relate to everything. the way adam sings 'ghost man' and drags out certain lyrics that you wish you wrote down is like nothing else out there. louder now and WYWTB sounds like they just threw an album together, like a usual band sitting on the shelves of target. i wish they could make an album like that again, but it just could never happen without certain people doing it together, and thats even if those certain people ever did get together again, could they still do it like that. good sounds are good, but TAYF had unique sound.

People need to get the fuck over TAYF. It was a good album for it's time.
Taking Back Sunday grew up. Omg they stopped writing emo one liners so now the lyrics sux!1 I personally enjoy the fact a band matures and puts out albums DIFFERENT to what they've done before. But hell, what's musical integrety in these days anyway.
WYWTB and LN are filled with killer melodies, some great musicianship, some amazing songs and some really good lyrics. 180 by Summer is a brilliant song lyrically, the way it's taken from 2 perspectives on a relationship from one persons point of view is done really well.
I prefer WYWTB over LN slightly, Decade, 180 and ...Slowdance are some of the best songs I know.
I go back to TAYF and get bored, it was a great album in it's time and I loved it. I still enjoy it but man, it's dated and there's a lot of similar music done better.

i agree with everyone about them not being as good lyrically as the were with TAYF and nolan. BUT on the contrary, i do actually love Louder Now. the music is 10 times better then where they were at with TAYF. i still think TAYF is the most consistent album theyve put out. but LN is a great album, fun to listen to on roadtrips.

I admit that I am such a hardcore fan of them that I'll always love anything they do, but yes, Tell All Your Friends was definetely THE BEST album. I do consider them different bands in some ways.:blackcat: But I loved some of the songs on Louder Now.
