Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, Saosin) will be producing Mae (http://www.absolutepunk.net/mae)'s third full-length, Capitol Records debut. The band will start recording the follow-up to The Everglow in three weeks.

Sweet. I'm soooo pumped for this album. And you know what, I'm not all that concerned with which producer they picked. The guys of Mae are very very smart guys, and the producer will probably be taking more of a back seat for making the record. You know, just make sure they're doing everything right and fine tuning things a bit. It'll be a great record, of this I'm sure.

Why? Just because Aladdin 2 didn't do as well as Aladdin, doesn't mean the band will suffer the same fate.

I want another album like Destination: Beautiful - not The Everglow.

Labels stick with what's selling - that's why Benson and Squire keep getting albums.

I still say they should've gone with Mark Hoppus. But Benson does make some pretty good stuff.

I saw them open up for Motion City Soundtrack, Rufio, and Fall Out Boy a few years back and then I saw them headline with Lovedrug last fall. I think they are a tight band musically, but I think their sound overall just wears thin after a while.

definitely in agreement with you there.

i'll repeat what's been said already, just for the sake of it -- I'd love for their sound to go back to that of D:B, but I also don't think it will. I couldn't really get into the Everglow as much as I did D:B - that CD didn't leave my CD player for months after its release.

Yes, because originality was my main goal with that comment.

We would surely be much better with you on staff. I have often said we need some 3rd grade wit and borderline illiterate spelling skills on our team.

Yes, because originality was my main goal with that comment.

We would surely be much better with you on staff. I have often said we need some 3rd grade wit and borderline illiterate spelling skills on our team.

I love how it is cool for you to say whatever you want about bands, but when someone downtalks your precious Mae, then it is gloves off. Grow up, dude.

That's out of context.

And you should always strive to be somewhat original. Especially when you're a staff member on a respected music site.

And hey, I pull those gloves off all the time over many issues....of course you'll go ahead and pigeon-hole me when it's convenient now won't you.

Have a nice day. :)

That is actually 2 words and one mixture of letters that means nothing.

Plus, I do not know what you are driving at. Good try, nevertheless.

My point is that you have horrible taste in music. IMHO

Mae is a great band. I don't think they do anything very exciting live, but I don't really think they need to. If they started doing jump kicks and swinging thier guitars over thier backs I think it would look very silly considering thier music is alternative at the hardest... when I go to see Mae I just go to be able to sing along and appreciate great musicianship, not to watch them do backflips or whatever else people expect a band in this scene to do.

yeah, i mean, that makes sense.
also, as someone just mentioned, relient k probably had some influence on them.
but i just think they should've went with gil norton.

well i think it comes down to who they interact with the best...

the singer cant hold a note live. they are all passionless and lifeless on stage. they dont look like they ever want to be there. that doesnt deserve my attention or money.

the only reason i ever payed attention to them is because zach played in one of my favorite bands of all time - unsung zeros.

Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, Saosin) will be producing Mae (http://www.absolutepunk.net/mae)'s third full-length, Capitol Records debut. The band will start recording the follow-up to The Everglow in three weeks.

THAT'S the name I was looking for! I was thinking of who I think Mae would sound good with, and he was who I was trying to think of!

Regardless, Howard Benson has had his hand in many, many cookie jars - and while not all of the cookies tasted delicious, it was well-worth the grab.
