Seems like a decent idea, but you have to wonder if it encroaches on people's rights too much. No doubt it would make people healthier, but at what cost? It could put multiple companies into major financial trouble. Also, if you want to eat fatty foods, that's your choice.

althought i disagree that "taxing" is bad.......i do think there are a shit load of stupid ones..ie. The Death Tax.........

taxing is bad. but its neccesary, its like taking a dump. but taxing the rich a higher percentage is just fucking retarded. taxing what you get from your dead grandma is stupid too.

the death tax isn't on what your "dead grandma" gives you but a tax of 1/3 or 1/5, depending on wealth, of every thing you have when you die..............its basically stealing and one of the few...no many taxes..........i'm totally against...........

the British Government is contemplating measures to put a tax on fatty foods, mainly chocolate and foods aimed at children.

There are also new plans to refuse healthcare to obese people and smokers. It's a different issue in this country because we have the National Health Service, paid for by taxes. The idea is that if you become unhealthy because you're overweight and your doctor tells you that your health will not improve unless you lose weight, then unless you make an effort to help yourself treatment will be refused. For example, if you're at risk of heart disease because of your weight and you're told to lose it, if your problems persist and you've made no effort to change your lifestyle then you will not be entitled to treatment. Personally I think it's a good idea, but like I already said, in America it's different because you have no NHS.

its a great thing that we dont have a NHS here.....and i love how the oppressive british gov. is now making people live a certain way and at a certain weight, when its personally none of there business.......what a wonderful world the left is trying to produce....conformity.........

thats not what he said though...If your wieght is negativly effecting your health, and you refuse to do anything about it, then you don't get treatment. Not in order to recive medical treatment you must be under 150lbs

some times, most times, weight isn't about what you eat but your gentic makeup.........some people just can't lose weight, and yes they are unhealthy, but theres nothing they can do about..............and the government shouldn't be in the business of trying to make a perfect society anyways...........also if there was no NHS then this wouldn't be a problem they would have to worry about..........
