I can't believe NES is in third, closely tied for forth. Must be all the young bloods on this site. IMHO, nothing can touch the original NES. Some of the best games ever are on that system. I still play it more then my 360 or my PS3.

N64 was the most revolutionary video game system ever. When i first played Mario 64 I was running around a castle doing flips and Mario yelling "yippie." I thought it was the greatest game ever and was content running around that place. Little did I know, until i accidentally jumped off the wall and into a picture did the game really begin. My mind was already blown, I loved everything about that game. It was revolutionary like The Matrix. Never again will I get that feeling because now I expect games to look great...N64 gave me something I didn't expect, plus google wasn't around to give me spoilers.

right, because I don't remember thins from when I was five. But anyway, the base of my opinion is that the Magnavox Odyssey was the first home game console ever that's absolutely more revolutionary than a 3D mario, having video games at home instead of having to go to an arcade. (What?! How could I know about that, it's from the seventies?) Or how about the NES which is the most popular system ever. Or the playstation which came out before N64 and despite being only 32-bit it had a lot of the same capabilities of N64. It also sold way more than the N64 and popularized controls with built in force feedback, the memory card and optical disc as opposed to cartridges. Not saying the N64 doesn't have it's merit but saying its the most revolutionary is a bit much.

your opinion is your opinion, even if it's stupid and wrong. My parents had arcade games in their homes...Not that big of a deal. You're talking complete nonsense, but again, you think what you say is golden. You compared playstation w/ N64 and based your argument by sales-- foolish. Just stop, you were not even old enough to understand the greatness of N64. Keep talking about systems in the"70s" and the playstation controller....

I don't understand the hostility, I don't think what I say is "golden" I do think I'm right in this case, absolutely I do. Why would I argue my point if I thought I was wrong? Okay, so your parents had arcade games in their home, I'm pretty sure that's not a normal occurrence. I'll give you that basing an argument on sales is somewhat foolish but looking at video game systems I think it's a decent gauge, crappy systems don't do well, Dreamcast, Gizmondo, CD-i. There's no hidden gem systems. And please stop telling me I was too young to understand the greatness of N64, I had one I loved it, My favorite game of all time like many is Ocarina of Time, despite the fact I was 7, I loved the game then and it's held up still after replaying it. But my personal experience or yours doesn't make it the most revolutionary game system of all time. The only thing you've said this whole time is that you loved Super Mario 64 and that I'm too young to understand. That's it. I'm not trying to be confrontational but you've said nothing to try and convince me that I'm wrong. Maybe it's not worth explaining to me because I'm so self righteous or whatever (I honestly don't mean to sound like a dick if I do), but I'd really like to know why you believe that N64 was the most revolutionary system other then your experience with it.

i already thought I explained it. I even compared it to what I believed was a revolutionary movie--The Matrix. N64's graphics and its third dimensional game-play was at the time unheard of, or atleast in the mainstream market. Also, the internet wasn't as robust as it is now, thus information wasn't as easily had. Gaming magazines flourished, many had subscriptions to Nintendo Power and such during the time. Info was limited on systems, we all knew the N64 was coming out, but we didn't know what to expect. There was no google.com. When N64 finally launched it was better than its rivals and clearly its predecessors. Moreover, you mentioned the PlayStation controller. I giggled at that because the N64 neatly brought to mainstream a mini-joystick. Furthermore, the N64 had one of the neatest attachments to be introduced at the time...The Rumble Pack. Now I had a PlayStation, and you mentioned something about shock something, i don't know what you were talking about, but I assure you it was no rumble pack, and if it was, i guarantee the rumble pack was released first. Now the PlayStation had legit games, ie- Final Fantasy 7, but you are right in saying how great Zelda was, but there was also Donkey Kong, Bond, and many many others that's graphics could not be rivaled.
Nintendo has always been known to do something unheard of, with NES you could shoot the screen with Duckhunt, and now the Wii may lack graphics, but it makes up with revolutionary technology- but i digress. You can name another system prior to N64 that you can claim was more revolutionary until the cows come home, but in my opinion N64 was the greatest in my era, and I don't see anything bringing that feeling back to others who have my mindset. Anyone my age and older will agree, I assure you.

The library for SNES is gargantuan. And it has a ton of classics. It may not be as graphically advanced as 64, its library might not be as large as the original NES, but is is the happy medium. Not to mention that most of the best RPGs of all time were released on SNES.

N64. Ocarina of Time seals the deal for me. Star Fox 64 was also amazing. When I was a young one I had Genesis however I can say easily thanks to emulation and Chrono Trigger, Snes is a close second. Wii would be great if they replaced motion controls with HD graphics. I could care less if I can simulate fishing as Link if he looks rad in 1080p.

obvious poll is obvious.
N64...SNES...NES....then who cares. N64 is the best console ever and it will be nearly impossible to replicate such an awesome force that is n64. The controller = perfect, grips to the hand like a glove. The games = epic, unforgettable. the set up = simple, impossible to damage a game or at the very least, give it a little blow and then poof its okay.
SNES was great too..but n64 was a BETTER version of it.
