Waking Ashland (http://www.absolutepunk.net/wakingashland) will be canceling the second leg of their tour in order record their new album with Chris Shaw.
Known for their brand of beautifully intricate piano rock, Waking Ashland is canceling the second leg of their tour and gearing up to hit the studio and record their first full-length album for Immortal Records. Vocalist Jonathan Jones said, “Any time we have to cancel dates, we feel really terrible. But in this case, it’s something we felt we had to do in order to make the record that we all want to make for our 2007 release.” The band has spent the last several months on the road, headlining and supporting everyone from Copeland to Relient K, and is looking forward to heading home to get their new full-length together. Jones said, “We have had a blast on tour these past few months, but we’re definitely looking forward to the much needed time off so we can write a new album. There are so many ideas floating around right now and there’s no doubt in my head that this new album will be some of the best Waking Ashland material yet.”
Waking Ashland will be recording their yet-to-be-named follow up to Telescopes with producer Chris Shaw who has worked with everyone from Bob Dylan to Jeff Buckley to Death Cab For Cutie to Dashboard Confessional. Jonathan said, “We couldn’t be more excited to work with Chris. Collectively we are fans of everything he has touched and we can’t wait to see what it will be like to work with him.” Look for their new album to hit stores in Spring of 2007 on Immortal Records.
Waking Ashland’s current EP, Telescopes, has gotten rave reviews from print and online magazines alike along with video support from MTV2, Fuse, and much more.
