i think "hair" was a bad choice for a single...i mean, i like the song, but if you're trying to expose new listeners to your band, i don't think "hair" really gives the right impression of what the early november has to offer.

i think decoration sounds the least like everything else on the mother mechanic and path...hair was definitely a good medium between songs off the mother and the mechanic....

yeah, this song should have been their first single, then they should have released a diff song than "hair" on the mother CD, that is the only CD really worth listening to. The mechanic CD has 3 good songs on it, that's really it, and the path CD was a complete waste of the 50 cent disc they put it on.

I wasnt thrilled w/Hair as a first single. If you weren't already a fan of TEN then it might push you awway. Hair is TEN but it does not connect it w/older material like Decoration would. Deco is a harder sound that most are familiar with. I know TEN has slower songs but you still know its TEN, hearing Hair is kinda an extension of TEN, a solid album track & in no way a "filler" song but not so radio friendly. Decoration should win TEN some new fans.

It sounds the same as any pop-punk band, except for the fact that the songs outstandingly suck-ass. On the other hand, the music on the Mother CD has a lot of potential that takes this band beyond the relm of the so-called "pop-punk genre." If you disagree with me, that's fine, I guess it just takes some people longer in life to discover the difference between good and sub-par music.

first of all, just because its catchy, doesnt make it good. cute is what we aim for and hawthorne heights are "catchy", but they are not good bands. with that being said, if your looking for only catchiness in a band, i dont see how you dont think that every song on the mechanic is catchy. i like catchy music, its not the only thing i look for in a band, but the thing that brought me towards the early november in the first place was them being able to write a strong chorus, which is in every single song on the mechanic. when you look at a song you cant just judge it by "its not catchy, i dont like it." if you look at the reviews, there is lyrics, vocals, creativity ect...no where does it say catchiness. i mean, even if you dont think the songs are catchy, you still have to judge them by other more important aspects of music.

Considering that the album was pushed back forever and finished like a year ago, yeah it has been around forever. It was also the first song (other than "Hair") Drive Thru posted on MySpace/PV at the beginning of the year.

I thought it was going to be their first video, and then I saw Hair.
I was like, "Ooook".
Kind of like P!ATD when they had "The Difference Between..." but they never made a video for it.

sidewacker, you obviously have no idea what you are talking about when i comes to music. you are wrong about everything you said, so please stop. the mechanic probably has the best songs on it out of every disk, is probably the best quality, and the band even stated that i they had to release only one of the cds, it would have been the mechanic. and try to find me one band that sounds like the early november. they are much more unique than a lot of bands, as hair is a clear example of, and the triple disk was a great accomplishment. so... you suck

the first time i heard hair on PV i was like wtf but, months later the video came out and i listened to it again, and it was the one song that made me really want to pick up the album, glad i did

decoration is a sick song, the mechanic is great cd, but it sounds really sameish, after a while, but i think they were going for that.the mother is soothing, and the path is a fuckin brillaint cd
i heard this song on a drive thru sampler a long time ago and i was hoping it would be on their new cd. this song is so original. one of their best songs.

The Path has some of the most complex and moving music on it....sorry it isnt straight-forward song after song, but its so awesome to listen to if you have the time...the mother is definitely the best of the 3, and the best TEN stuff ever....but the mechanic is also an awesome cd

I think "hair" was risky, but also kind of cool. A lot of bands have done great putting out "different" sounding singles than what the rest of their music sounds like. Kind of a lame examples...but think of Smashmouth and Sugar Ray...the majority of their stuff sounded a lot different from their first "big singles" but people ended up liking it more. I don't know. But yeah...decoration should be great.
