I'm starting up a new band and we would like to use a certain myspace url,
However it is currently being taken by a band that is no longer together and the myspace is no longer in use.
Does anybody have any suggestions on how I could go about getting the domain?

Try to contact one of the members of the band and ask them to login and change the band's url

Contact support@myspace.com and let them know that the profile is inactive.
I was in the same situation as you once here's what I did (slightly questionable morally).
- Made 10 myspace accounts
- filed abuse report (copyrighted songs) from each account
- waited a week
- Myspace deleted the page
- Took the url.
i think the easiest thing would be to just alter what you want the url name to be. like i'm in a band called after all, but there was already a myspace url named myspace.com/afterall, so we just made ours myspace.com/afterallband

Thats evil lol
You could contact the band, or just write bandnameofficial or something
Why don't you contact whoever has the page, ask for the login information and just take over their page? Then change your email address and password. No biggie.

Or you might want to think about changing the name of the band, since you guys are new and stuff. When my band was looking for a name we went thru each suggestion and typed them into myspace to see if there already was one. Didnt want the hassle of having another band's name

All of these are great suggestions. My band was in a similar situation: We're called In The Trenches, and there's a ton of bands out there with the same name, but all of them are, or at least seemed to have been inactive for at least 6 months, so we took the name and just tossed "ks" on the end.

thanks for all the ideas guys!
I'd really like to use their url because there's nothing special added to the end of the band name, making it easier to remember.
however, i tried contacting them months ago and apparently they dont use their personal myspace accounts OR email addresses listed on the bands website.
ill hit up myspace support, and if no luck, i might have to try that copyright idea lol
