Apple has updated its MobileMe app and released a new app called Find My iPhone (http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/10/06/18/apple_updates_mobileme_releases_fin d_my_iphone_app.html). Have you ever lost your phone (outside of your home/car) and, if so, did you get it back?
This poll is in conjunction with this week's Technology Round-up (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=1760742).
EDIT: Since I forgot to post an option for "I found it myself," let's just say that the first option is "Yes I've lost my phone, and a friend returned it or I found it."

Lost mine at Castle Park a few years ago. Can't remember how long it took, but someone got in touch and returned it. Decent people - we need more of them.

Never lost mine before, I pretty much keep it attached to my body, haha.

Both? I've lost one at a hotel and it was found by the staff a few days after I filed a report sort of thing. One fell in the snowy parking lot and I couldn't find it for a week, then the landlords found it the day I was about to order a new one. One I just straight up lost and never found.

I've never lost it but I lose track of it around my house all the time. I have to call it from another phone to find it. It's a black phone in a black case... It's like a ninja.
EDIT:
There was one time when I left in in a lecture room. I was in the elevator going down when I realized I didn't have it, freaked out, went back up and luckily it was exactly where I left it.

I've lost my phone, and had to buy a new one. Thank god for cell phone insurance.

I lost my phone at a bar a couple months back. It was at the very beginning of the night too, so it wasn't like a drunken sloppy thing. I left it in the bathroom. I thought it was going to be gone forever, but then my friend said someone had texted him and so he asked where my phone was and they told him. I went and picked it up the next day and whoever found my phone sent some incredibly hilarious text messages to people (thankfully none that were inappropriate!), and then apparently turned it in to the bartender.

all the time.
This one time I thought I put my phone in my purse but I actually just set it down on the bus seat next to mine. Later when I figured it out, I was calling it over and over and over and finally someone picked up. I drove to their bus stop and got it back. Biggest relief of life.

I was walking at my school and it fell out of my pocket and I didn't realize it. I called it later and my friend answered saying she found it. Haha I was stoked.

I left mine on an airplane once. Apparently, someone took it and sold it to someone else for $20. Then, that guy called me up to return it; the downside was he lived pretty far from me. I still got it back, though.

I've never lost my phone outside of my own bedroom, where I put it down on a windowsill and then proceeded to spend about an hour looking for it. Apparently I'm not intelligent enough to think to call it.

Some kid stole my phone in gym class. When I got home my dad suggested going online to check the call log and see if he had made any calls. Called the kid he called and told him that if we didn't have the phone back tomorrow he'd be charged as an accessory. Got my phone back the next day. Turns out that kid's name was "Flyboi."

I was snowboarding and it somehow fell out of my pocket. I checked the lost and found at the mountain, and somebody actually turned it in there. I was amazed but extremely happy.

yeah I lost it on a trip to egypt. I had no idea where I'd lost it either. Couple days later our tour guide was asking around on our bus if someone had lost their phone. Evidently I had left it at one of our hotels and the staff and found it and gave it to him. Pretty lucky I guess cause I was sure i'd never see it again.
Also, I've probably found 2 or 3 phones in my life and I always just called the last number dialed and got it back to the person. Yes, kudos to me.

I was incredibly trashed, lost my phone, and found it in my dorm's lost and found the next day. I had no idea those actually worked, and I am forever grateful to whoever returned it.

Depending on where you lost it, you could post a note with your phone number saying that you found an iPod. When people call, ask them to identify some of the music on it to verify that it's their device.

That's a nice person right there. To be willing to spend money to help someone they don't even know out is awesome.

I like the threat. How did the person return the phone? Give it to you face to face or leave it in a discrete location?

He left it in the gym the next day and my coach some girl came up to him with it.

One time I was at Warped Tour and I lost my phone crowd surfing. (I believe it was during Story of the Year.) It just so hapened that my friend saw it happen and retrieved the phone. It was a 1 in a million chance. That was like 7 years and 4 phones ago. Hasn't happened since.
I've never lost a phone. Guess that's luck in its own right

I lost my Sidekick3 walking to the store so I looked everywhere then gave up to go home and I found it on a bike trail in the dirt but still in the case.
