View Full Version : The Matches To Support Plus 44

The Matches (http://www.absolutepunk.net/thematches) are supporting Plus 44 (http://www.absolutepunk.net/plus44) on their upcoming tour. Idiot Pilot (http://www.idiotpilot.com) are rumored to be joining the line up as well.
Would Travis Barker be drumming for Idiot Pilot, or will that end once they leave the studio? Either way if Idiot Pilot is on this, I would be elated.
Should be +44 supporting the Matches, IMHO. But either way, this is a brilliant tour; will there be any UK dates on this tour with the Matches?
HAHA I Called it!
i said like once this tour was announced that The Matches will be the main support.

OK i need to express how much it bothers me that the matches open up for so many big tours and they still havent blown up yet... like - I dont know how much better they can do. I mean I think they're alright and all but to be honest i've seen them play 3 or 4 times and thats only because i've been going to see the headlining band whose sold out a huge venue everytime..... I duno... it just bothers me... does anybody agreee or am i a douchebag?

Of course, but I think the Matches should be much more popular by now, and in my eyes are worthy of being in +44's position. +44 haven't even put an album out and they will be selling out shows, while the Matches have put out two albums and have been around much longer. Not to mention the Matches are a great band, and I'd love to see them headline; unfortunately in the UK they only get support slots.

I spoke to them a f ew weeks ago, and they purely don't sell enough to be given a headliniing tour in the UK. Not even enough copies to play in Bar Academy's, and Academy 2's. It kinda sucks, but yeah I kinda go to when they support.

a couple years ago i saw the matches play live (it was the first time i ever saw/heard them). It was in a fire hall show in Charleroi PA. I got there late and didn't see the opening band...but when i got there the plain white t's were playing, then the matches, and then say anything headlined.
anyway, the matches sort of bad mouthed PWT's when they started playing...which i thought was a little rude...i mean, if you don't like a band, fine, but if you're doing a show with them at least suck it up until it's over...I didn't really hold that against them or anything though. I actually just figured they were kidding...but then they pulled the most dick move ever. as soon as they were done with their set they announced they were doing an encore set out in front of the club and everyone should come out and watch. almost the WHOLE place cleared out and there were maybe 20 kids left in a formerly packed club watching say anything. i couldn't believe it. i had never seen a band do anything like that before. granted, it ended up being the greatest and most personal performance i've ever seen, but that was still a shitty thing to do.
ever since i haven't been able to give the matches a try because i've been holding a grudge against them. maybe it's time to at least give them a shot because everyone seems to be real into them. any suggestions as to songs i should check out that are amazing enough to redeem them in my eyes?

Hey music4torching,
I was at that show, first of all, say anything wasn't even on the tour they were just on that show, maybe one or two more but I don't think so, anywho, not the point, since they were touring with PWT I'm almost certain they were just having fun with them, also when they played outside they played after say anything played, because I watched both, either way you need to cool your jets, the matches are super nice dudes and you got a wrong impression, go buy their new album.

How long is this tour? Because I am pretty sure The Matches are touring with Zebrahead later in the month/early November.
I guess I am going to this show now. I was thinking about it before but The Matches put it over the top.

Nah, it's not just you. I've been seeing The Matches for over two years now and some of the bigger tours I've seen them on are Warped Tour, Epitaph Tour and the YC/TSL tour back in 2004, and I'm also surprised they're not bigger. Those guys put on one hell of a live show.
