Thought a thread surely would of existed for this already...

Kevin Rudd, Australia's Prime Minister of the last two years was overthrown by his female deputy Julia Gillard last night. Although Rudd was sort of losing his way I still much prefer him over Julia Gillard.

Your thoughts and opinions?

As much as I understand the decision and perhaps it's rather illogical of me, but I've always thought if you get voted in by the public, you should be entitled to serve as Prime Minister until those same people decide there is a better candidate. I know a majority will disagree, but that's how I ideally perceive it.

In all honestly, Rudd did a fantastic job in an extremely difficult time for the country. He overcame obstacles and adversities whilst handling himself with confidence and composure.

I totally agree with that.
TBH, I'm so sick of hearing "Awww it flooded. That's the government's fault. Aww, the trains late. That's the government's fault. Awww... my son died. That's the government's fault. Awww there was a fire. That's the government's fault"

No offense to anyone, but when Rudd was giving away money everyone loved him. Then he introduced new taxes and whatnot (like the ciggies) and everyone hates him and stuff. I'm not saying this cause I don't like Gillard, I mean shes the premier of my area, but I am so sick of the "That's the government's fault" bullshit. I mean somethings maybe the government's fault, but friken hell stop blaming everything on the government.M-(

one would wonder, if she back-stabbed her 'colleague', imagine how trustworthy she is to lead the country?

Surely it couldn't have hurt to let him see out the rest of his time. Although recently he had worse and worse press, insulting journalists and whatnot. I think he did a lot, and I don't see why people always expect the PM to be able to make massive changes.

Not a massive fan of Gillard, but we'll see what happens.

Maybe I'm just being silly, but I thought Rudd's message on Twitter was really lovely.
