so i just got into linkin park and avenged sevenfold and i'm obsessed with them :) know any good bands similar to them? i'm looking for decent singing voices, not just mindless screaming, because i like the way LP and A7X combine singing and screaming (and rapping, in LP's case). thanks!

Try Periphery. Their vocalist reminded me a lot of Linkin Park. Now, this is prog metal. You might be looking for post-hardcore like the guy above me said. haha.

yes, there is, and that's not what i'm asking for. bands like the used, hawthorne heights, and alexisonfire are post-hardcore. i'm looking for heavier stuff, thank you.

You're welcome, lol.

I also love this band, but they're melodic hardcore as far as I know.

They have some really inspirational lyrics for a hardcore band, and not necessarily religious ones.

She probably never started paying attention to music until she was like 14. It's possible if she's only listened to one genre until lately. I grew up on country, same thing happened with me, lol.

yeah that's kind of how it is...finally got myself an ipod a few years ago and started paying attention to music. it took me a little while to get used to screaming, but i like it now. i just want other people's opinions on what's good.

you're welcome again, lol. There's lots of different kinds of screaming. I'm picky about it too, haha. Underoath tends to annoy me, not that it's bad, just that spencer's screaming isn't my cup of tea.

Try this band too, if you like singing/screaming:

Korn, Slipknot, Fear Factory, System Of A Down. If you want metal, try one of Black Sabbath's first 6 albums- from there you can go in any direction you like.

All That Remains (Overcome) and Killswitch Engage (The End of Heartache) are two great metalcore bands who utilize both clean vocals and screams, and I would say that they have pretty good singing voices. If you like female vocals/screams, check out Straight Line Stitch. They're pretty awesome, and I think the female vocals are fantastic. Also, if you're into the rapping, you might like Otep, which has another female vocalist who interchanges screaming/singing with shouting/rapping.

Basically what you're asking for isn't really metal because very few metal bands nowadays combine singing and screaming. If you gave it a shot, I think you'd enjoy some bands that scream exclusively.

Here's a band you may want to check out, Architects. For the most part they scream, but in songs like this, their vocalist does a lit bit of clean singing:
