There are so many abandoned stations at the island, it seems silly that Dharma is still there. At least, a full team of scientists.

im begining to think the others are there the same way the survivors are there...like they too have crashed or were brought there by the whole dharma craziness and they are doing as they are told too. and they are capturing the survivors to get them to do the dharma testing so they (the others) can find a way to get off the island. like desmond tried

If Dharma was a government program, then they wouldn't necessarily have to have mail and I'm sure they set up means for electricity / water for them. I haven't been watching the show long (since mid-last season) but just saying.

i'm guessing there's a huge generator or something on the island (we still haven't seen the place that sends that french transmition) for power that the others probably use. And for mail I'm guessing they have contacts at Dharma back in the US (they got Jack's file), but I don't see any acutal mail system happening

yeah, they've gotta get back to that eventually, but there's enough going on right now that they can take their time. You get used to it though. I basically did the same thing as you but during the early part of the 2nd season. I hadn't watched the show before that but then d/led and watched every episode. Once I got caught up it was hard watching a new episode and not being able to just turn on the next one right away.

They (unless Ethan was acting alone) kidnapped claire and walt, blew up the raft, shot sawyer, and hung Charlie. It's gonna be tough to justify that.

I don't think it's a matter of forgiving them or not. If anything, it's about understanding the Others motives. But either way, it's not like I'm agreeing with anything that the Others have done thus far, I'm just saying that they don't seem as evil as they once seemed. Especially when you look at characters like Alex and Juliet/Judy.

Ethan also attempted to kill Charlie. But also the second half of your statement raises the question as to who really is the good side. Could it actually be possible that the Others are right when they say that they're the good guys and the plane crash survivors aren't? It's gonna be so interesting to see how this season pans out.

Although in the end, alot of killings were out of self-defense and what-not, but still. We don't know the backstory and causes/reasonings for the way the Others act, so it's hard to make true judgements about them yet.

I agree. Last season was still really good, but there were some filler episodes that just didn't do much for the progression of the show. Like the one Charlie episode was still interesting, but wound up not doing too much for the overall plot.

Is this assuming that Ethan was acting alone? Because he did kill scott (steve). And he was threatening to kill more. I mean, it doesn't seem that the others particularly enjoy killing people, although Tom does seem to enjoy the misfortunes of others (as shown by his smugness when taking walt, talking to Sawyer in the jungle/ cage)

I feel like they enjoy the mind games that they play and the manipulation of the castaways, but I don't think murder is part of their "mission"

How could everyone forget what Ben said when hewas locked up. He said ethan was a mistke, he said that he acted on his own ethan was emotionally involved and liked claire, or does anyone not remember. Although he killed scott (steve) it was not a part of the others agenda.


Something Im thinking is there's still a larger mastermind at work. Im sure that the others will become less hostile and mysterious, and when this happens the new enemy will emerge. Theres a number of plausible explainations. Don't be so quick to assume they are doing unspeakable things to the children. Walt didn't seem to traumatized when he saw his dad (albeit scared) I don't think their aim is to hurt the kids, but to adopt them into their way of life.

I used to think stuff like that, back when the tail end of the plane was introduced and a bunch of their people were just kidnapped in the middle of the night. However, getting to see what the Others are actually like now, I'm undecided as to whether they're good or bad. I don't think they're as evil as I once thought.I just mean that Ben is uber creepy, like Charles Manson or Jim Jones.

But you guys know the old adage. The Road to hell is paved with good intentions. The Others intentions may be pure, but is violence against people ever a good thing? When is kidnapping a good thing?

1. I could easily see something like this happening. There's a lot of tension between the two of them.
2. I'm not sure about this one. I thought that I heard somewhere that we don't find out about the father til much later on in the season/series.
3. Isn't Sayid still on the boat? I don't see how many people he could interact with in the next episode.
