I'm just curious if any of you are currently teaching or are education majors. As you may or may not know already, I'm in my second year of teaching elementary school.

I thought you were fired Eisley? I mean... Russ. :-D
I don't think I would want to teach. Maybe little kids, or some sort of music class, but high school kids just make me angry.

Future Teacher. High School :) I was going to major in music education, but I feel as if my skills of right now are sub-par. So I decided to just wait, major in mathmatics education, and go back to major in music education. That way I have time to practice and perfect my skills.

despite what hey romantica says, i'm a double major in clarinet studies and secondary education. it's an interesting field, for sure. job security kinda blows.

Hmm, it was "laid off" and don't believe everything you read in those stories, my friend. Ha.

Awesome, there are a few high schools around here I wouldn't mind teaching at if I ever decide to move up.

Aren't they the same thing? I think it's just a matter of whether they decide to say "you're fired" or "we're laying you off" hahah.

I *teach* PE classes two days a week and substitute teach in between here and there.
I have no teaching degree or anything though, and I'm not necessarily planning on making this into a career.

I was thinking of becoming a High School English teacher. The three that I've had so far have influenced me so much. I doubt I will though, because there's so much else I also want to do.
I'm an elementary education major. I don't know if I'm going to say with it, but that's what I want to do at the moment.

I graduated last Spring with my bachelors in History and after a few months of slacking off, I've decided to do something with my major and look into some MIT programs. It's a bit of a daunting task though trying to wade through all of the jargon and different programs. Anyone else do something similar? I got my undergrad degree at the University of Washington, but I don't have all the prereq classes for the History endorsement in the MIT program here, so I'd have to take some more classes before I can even apply which is unfortunate.

This doesn't exactly apply, but I plan on becoming a teacher. For the longest time I haven't been able to see myself doing anything else.

I'll be teaching this summer and for the next 2 years, what subject and which grade I have no idea, but nonetheless should be hella interesting. I have to practice on curbing my language because I T.A. for English I and Mythology at the local University at the moment.

I like both Covers, I want to get a copy of Both. The Vision is just akwardly drawn on the cover, I don't think he is on the Registered side.

i taught for a bit, and want to in the future
but god willing, i hope to be an anthropology professor within the next 15 years (im realistic)
i teach 5th grade inclusion in brooklyn, its is funny because i was coming into the forum to purposely start a thread like this, for those of you who don't know, inclusion is half special ed/half regular ed. I love my kids but I have a partner and she is the dumbest person I have ever met. I am also thinking about starting a thread explaining her dumbness. I'll give you a taste

Haha, is this part of the "Teach America" program by any chance?
im about to finish my degree in history next year, and through my state (NJ) non-university teaching program, i'll actually be able to be hired as a provisional teacher, while taking nightclasses to get my certification.
it's a pretty great deal, because the program costs about 2000 for the whole deal, as opposed to several thousand for all the extra credits i would have to take in undergrad classes.
i'm hoping to teach high school or middle school, and once i get my certification, i want to go back and get my masters in history (and maybe even a phd someday) and teach college.

im currently in my first year teaching. its a lot of work, but very rewarding too. you have to have your heart in it if you want to get something out of teaching. I teach first grade and wouldn't change it for the world. they keep me going through everything. and the added bonus i dont have to worry about running into them at shows! :)

I'm going to double major in Music Education and Music Composition.
But I always thought it would be cool to be a high school english teacher. Either way, I'll always have a love for the artistic side of things.

I'm thinking of getting acredited to teach high school English. The other option is to adjunct at the community college level until I go for my PhD so I can be a prof.
Right now, I'm a T.A. in English, teaching two sections of Freshman Comp. at the University. I don't think h.s. is too big of a leap from what I'm already doing...

I'm planning on being a high school teacher, I'm very concerned about that sort of thing. When I was a junior in high school I was up at the state college near by at a frat party and ran into my student teacher....akward.

I'm still undecided about a major but one of my favorite possible choices has always been a history teacher.
I'm in an education class right now, but I'll be honest that my interest in it is mediocre. But I'm thinking it may just be the school at I'm at--if you hate your environment, you'll hate your classes.
I'm transferring next year and then I'll see what happens from there.

i fear running in to parents. when i was a student teacher the teacher i was with was really young. she always ran into one of the parents at shows. it was so weird.
