Received an e-mail this morning form my advisor stating that he was offered - and accepted - a position in London. Guess who is not welcome, haha. Also, turns out the paper work for my summer funding was never filled out. That means I have no $$ for bills and rent, which just so happen to be due in a few days. Won't get the money until the end of July. Not really that upset to be honest. Just life.

Welcome to graduate school :-)
keep your chin up. Stuff like that happens a lot. For example - my brother is in a phd program and after two years of research his lab ran out of funding so he had to switch to another project.

Yikes, sounds rough for your brother. Stuff like this apparently does happen. Had several of the other grad students tell similar stories.

Good luck man. Right now I'm screwed because the conference I was accepted to wants all my dues/registration by 7/30, and I don't get paid til 8/2. Grad students always get the short end.

Here's the solution: never go to a good school where advisers are likely to be stolen. You won't get a job afterward, but you'll have some consistency.
