Has anyone checked out Ellegarden (http://www.myspace.com/ellegarden)? Japanese pop-punk has never sounded so cool. Anyone have any other "abroad" (ie. not in America) recommendations that everyone can check out? Let's have them.

You Sunk My Battleship has totally been rocking my socks. They have a serious Orchid feel to them and they're from Germany. They only have a few demos out right now, but they're totally worth a listen if you like that kind of music.

Ellegarden's pretty sweet. I find it \amusing that they're from Japan, but sound like any other pop punk band you'd hear on American soundwaves

As for recommendations, jesus, I have tons:

Akino Arai (Japan, Pop)
Ali Project (Japan, Electronica/Pop)
Angela Aki (Japan, Pop)
Asian Kung Fu Generation (Japan, Rock)
BoA (Korea, Pop)
Bonnie Pink (Japan, Pop)
The Brilliant Green (Japan, Rock/Pop)
The Delgados (UK, never really hit it off in the States, Rock)
The Dreamside (Netherlands, Darkwave)
FLOW (Japan, Rock)
hitomi (Japan, Pop)
HOME MAKE KAZOKU (Japan, some kind of fun, energetic, nonsucky rock/rhip-hoppish combination.)
Luna Sea (Japan, Rock)
Maaya Sakomoto (Japan, Pop)
Mikuni Shimokawa (Japan, Pop)
mink (Japan, Pop)
Nami Tamaki (Japan, Pop)
The Pillows (Japan, Rock)
Porno Graffiti (Japan, rock)
RIP SLYME (Japan, rap)
Road Of Major (Japan, Rock)
Seki Tomokazu (Japan, Pop)
Shiina Ringo (Japan, Rock/Pop)
SID (Japan, Rock)
Spitz (Japan, Rock)
Tokyo Jihen (Japan, Rock/Pop)
TommyFebruary6 (Japan, Pop)
TommyHeavenly6 (Japan, Rock/Pop)
X-Japan (Japan, metal)
Yaida Hitomi (Japan, Rock.Pop)
The various works of Yuki Kajiura, which include See-Saw (Pop/Rock), FictionJunction (Pop), and her solo album (?).

Yeah, I listen to a lot of Japanese music. Also, don't write someone on this list off jsut because they're descibed as Pop, Japanese Pop can be a very differant beast then American Pop, and is overall more enjoyable (And that's not because I can't understand them, I actually speak a fair amount of Japanese, but it just sounds better)
