People keep tossing around "generic" lately, a term I've found to be relative to a listener's musical taste and preferred genre of choice.

same here for some reason

Never said they had to do it for you .. just was explaining why I'm sick of hearing people toss out the word "generic." I think vocally they're better than a lot of other stuff out there in the "pop-punk" market.

"Hey im ben, I used to play for the band Yellowcard, we sold a million records, and now im barrowing 20 bucks" his bank account was over drawn...
I feel sorry for that dude, I mean he cant add too much to the band, they had there sound nailed before him. I guess the perks of having a record label CEO playing back up guitar couldnt hurt....

Good for him, maybe he'll be a sort of glue that brings this band together, I'm not a huge fan but I've seen glimpses of a band that could make a decent pop CD. Let's just hope they don't get big and kick him out of the group.

What? Are we listening to the same band?
no, they're just generic
To you. To me, all hardcore bands sound the same and are all generic derivatives of each other. However, to someone involved heavily in that music - it wouldn't be the same.
Genericness is all relative.
it's only a CEO if its a corporation
Eh, not really ... just means they have the highest executive power. A kid running his own lemonade stand could still be called a CEO.

haha. what does that mean. they rule. my friend jsut saw them a month ago and said he has never seen the band so happy, they played to 300 people and ryan kept saying over and over that they were all so grateful and how much he loved being back in a smaller setting. i'd say thats a pretty good state for a band to be in.

I would have been totally shocked if I had not just seen them live and noticed Ben playing with them. Is it just me or did Yellowcard totally go downhill when Ben left/was kicked out? This leads me to believe he somewhat made that band. Hopefully he can do the same for Amber Pacific.

wow this website is still kicking.
i dont much listen to the music of the community anymore but i can say im looking forward to a new brand new cd.
my earliest memories of this place was when i fibbed and said i worked on this website back when it was just changing from a blink 182 site and i made friends with jesse and garrett at the ol hawks nest at the university of hartford.
im in milan, italy having brunch right now on the phone with a old friend from high school and we thought it would be funny if i checked this place out seeing as how i havent put glue in my hair in some 5 years.
cheers.
was he the violinist in YC? was never a big fan but cool that hes found something else.

I think this is a good match ... they don`t have as many memorable songs on their last album as yellowcard had on ocean avenue, but somehow I listened to their record a lot more than to yellowcards (I`m not talking bout the last piece of crap record ...) ... I`m really curious for amber pacifics new record ... could be a good one!

thats pretty rad! i dont care how old they were when they the possibilit and the promise b/c i'm 19yrs old as well and that cd is an amazing pop punk cd. for those who call it generic? go listen to hawk nelson or fm static. now that is crappy generic pop punk. this cd has kicked so much ass and anyone who loves pop punk can say the same. for some reason it reminds me of student rick meets rufio. student ricks "soundtrack for a generation" had some really sweet pop punk tunes then bam these random slow songs out've know where and as for me comparing them to rufio thats only because they play it fast and kind've technical like rufio as well as all pop punk should be. fast, catchy and fun.
i really hope this isnt the next "yellowcard" cd. to be honest ocean ave i think wasnt yellowcards best cd and their latest efforts i also think was terrible. one for the kids and the underdog e.p. are my favs :)
i cant wait to hear a new album from A.P. i dont want another yellowcard cd i want an amber pacific cd just having ben in the band should make it better because he has expierence to throw in there
congrats ben.

Whats up all, this is Will from Amber...I've been reading a lot of these comments about Ben being a part of our band, I just wanted to say that Ben is a great guy and we are excited to have him in the band, not just from a musical standpoint but also as a friend! Aside from that, I also just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has posted something positive about the situation or about our band, I know all the guys read up on these posts and appreciate it as well. As for the posts that aren't so friendly, feel free to just forward those on to my e-mail @ will@amberpacific.com...I'd love to talk about why you all have such a hate towards our band, I'm sure your favorites all take the time to write back to you. Thanks again!
I'm glad that Ben finally got back into a band. I'm a little dissapointed he didn't start a whole new one, but can't win 'em all. Things look really promising now for Amber Pacific in my oppinion.

thats sarcasm by the way, just in case your sense of sarcasm is as bad as your spelling and over all view on life, see ya in the girls jeans section!! :)

And I'll go on the record and say while AP is not my favorite band, they do make good music. And the guys are really nice, too.. especially Will. I guess anymore if someone catches someone in a band on a bad day, they automatically deem them an asshole or jerk. Shit happens.

thats sarcasm by the way, just in case your sense of sarcasm is as bad as your spelling and over all view on life, see ya in the girls jeans section!! :)
thanks for attacking my spelling and clothing... guess what? 6th grade called they need their comeback back...im glad your a groupid for follow through, but the facts are the fact, and if you dont realize that certain things for amber pacific were manifactured then you are just kidding yourself.
i havent sold any records, because im not in a band... but sometimes the people who know the most about music are not musicians.

Damn, even after Ben posts, people are still bitching.
I've met the guys from Amber Pacific several times (since they're a local band), and I think they are incredibly nice. Maybe some of you just met them on an off-day.
As for their music, it's fairly generic, but they're just starting, so I think their next record will be a huge step up. I have hope and think they are all good dudes, and Ben will add a lot to it.

you're argueing with yourself.
If generic is a relative term. (i'm not saying it is not mind you)
What people type here is THEIR opinion from their point of view
then isn't it perfectly acceptable for them to label something generic? Hell, to ask them to do otherwise would defeat the purpose of these forums.
Don't take everything so personally. You don't have to agree with them, nor they you.
As for Ben joining Amber Pacific, I like it. The band does seem to have that certain familiararity to them with most of their songs but they do have stand out tracks. "If I Fall" "Gone So Young" They have potential and I hope they can show us what they are capable of.

...or just have enough dignity not to make mediocre music in a trendy band.

I have read ap.net once in a while but I never signed up until now, when my friend pointed this thread out to me. Before I get started I just want to say that I am not someone who normally name drops, but in this case I feel it is necessary to do so.
I have been friends with these guys since April. My friends were friends with them, and when we all hung out, they welcomed me in like they'd known me forever. When I first met them, I wasn't even a fan. No I didn't dislike their music, I just hadn't listened to them before. Now they are one of my favorites, and not just because they're my friends. They have been there for me during some tough times in my life. For example, I followed them for a week in early September, and one of the dates was the year anniversary of my father's passing. I cried so hard during "Gone So Young" & "If I fall" I had to put my head down. Both Will&Dango made sure to check on me afterwards & made sure I was ok.
They are some of the most hardworking guys I know. They bust their asses when they're on tour. They are genuine and nice and they ALWAYS come out to say hi to fans afterwards. Not one of them, not some of them, but ALL of them.
In regards to Ben, all I can say it that I think it's a wonderful thing. I never met Ben when he was in YC, but when I met him on this tour he was nothing short of nice to me. He was always happy & smiling, and I think that he can do nothing more than improve on this incredible band.
