Sounds good after my first listen. Funny album artwork.

Still wish they would've chosen less obscure songs though. Maybe its just because I don't follow country at all, but at least with past releases you knew the majority of the songs and thats what helped make the albums instant classics... that already heard feeling.

I def. agree with you. It's so much more fun to hear cover songs of songs that you already know. Especially in the case of Me First and the Gimme Gimmes cuz they're all about having fun and making a joke of the songs you know so well. Def. not the case with this album though cuz most people probably don't know half of the songs on the album. Oh well, I'm still gonna give it a listen cuz it's Me First and the Gimme Gimmes - no matter what they do, it winds up being fun.

Oh yeah, its definitely a really fun disc with lots of great songs (their cover of Kenny Rogers' "She Believes In Me" is absolutely fantastic) but the fact that you don't really know most of the tracks hurts it a bit. I don't know why they didn't pick more of the famous country tunes instead of these ones... oh well.

When I saw the track list I downloaded all the originals before I listened to the Gimmes. After doing that it made me appreciate the music more.

And good review, Darren.

I know a lot of the songs. It goes along with living out in the middle of nowhere. I really liked the Jolene and Goodbye Earl covers.

I knew a bit more than half of these, maybe not know all the words by heart, but I'm familiar with most of them. I can't wait to hear the cover of Sundy Morning Coming Down. I really regret not going to see Kris Kristoferson recently.

never been a big gimmies fan, except for their contributions to the "rocky horror punk rock show"
