i dont hate it, but nothing happens. Which is supposed to be the point yes, showing what they did instead of fighting, but i wasn't all that impressed by the movie.

i too thought it was very underrated. i had it in my top 10 last year (though just barely). road to perdition is another underrated sam mendes movie which you should check out if you haven't seen it already.

I do have a few questions, it was very loud in my house while I was watching it.

What was with that whole place that looked like hell (with all the fire) and what was it "raining" that got in the guys eyes and made him freak out?

Also, what was with the horse?

Haha you not only missed alot in the film but in history class. The Iraqis burned the oil fields so the fire was from... well the fire and the oil was shooting up out of the ground and raining down on them.

Um... they oil pipelines were set on fire by retreating Iraqi forces. It was "raining" oil because the oil was burning... and the smoke was filling and weighing down the clouds.... kind of like acid rain.

That was kind of the point.... not all movies fall into the a nice little beginning, climax, end format. This was just the viewpoint of a soldier dealing with war. Nothing more, nothing less.

Yea.. Aronofsky is brillant. Road to Perdition was good... but yea.. totally different styles.
