Actually, I think there are three versions of his signature model. As a matter of fact, I don't think that's quite his SM. His in that color has a "racing stripe" on it. Another of his looks exactly like the one he has on the cover of Heavier Things.

aaactualy those are the cheapie ones. My friends dad deals first act guitars and is pissed about that stereotype, because apparently they make some really expensive ones too. and if the one john is playing in the commerical is the one it comes with, it looks pretty legit.

The guitar shop I go to sold a Squire Strat to Carlos Santana. When he played it, still sounded like Carlos Santana.

it's because he is venturing away from the "your body is a wonderland" stuff and actually showing us how talented of a guitar player he is. so not only does he have all his old fans who liked his pop music, but he is gaining new ones(like me) who can appreciate his interpretation of blues-rock
Plus he is funny as hell and easily likeable because he doesn't take himself too serisouly (at least that's how he portrays himself)

The guys about as close to stevie ray as you can get nowadays. but john mayer is good. I'm personally glad he finally came out with a song worth listening to. He seriously can play so well, and I'd have to agree that he could out-guitar any of the "scene" players any day.
