Chris Conley of Saves The Day (http://www.absolutepunk.net/savestheday) fame will be embarking on a solo acoustic tour. The dates along with the press release can be found below.
"[Sound The Alarm] is emotional catharsis put to pop music. And it sounds fucking great." - Alternative Press

(Los Angeles, CA) Saves The Day's vocalist/guitarist, Chris Conley, is going unplugged for a handful of acoustic solo tour dates this fall. Conley will kick-off his solo tour by performing at this year's Bamboozle Left Festival. Following Bamboozle Left, the unaccompanied Conley will be joined by The Dear Hunter on all dates, and by Dan Andriano of Alkaline Trio, on November 5th at Stone Pony.

During 2006's Warped Tour, Saves The Day played two sets on all 50 stops of the tour, one set on the main stage and an acoustic set on the Vagrant/MLB stage. Conley enjoyed playing the acoustic sets so much that he has decided to tote around his acoustic guitar for a little while longer. New York's Newsday reported: "Saves The Day was the day's most versatile act, as singer Chris Conley...roared through songs from the New Jersey band's Sound The Alarm album...during one set and then essentially led a campfire sing-a-long of its quieter, acoustic songs (including "Freakish") during another."

Saves The Day most recently wrapped up a brief East Coast tour in support of the band's most recent album, Sound The Alarm (April 11th, 2006). Their 5th, and latest, studio album has been receiving critical acclaim and has landed the band on the covers of Death and Taxes and Status magazine. Rollingstone.com claimed: "[Sound The Alarm's] tracks are some of the darkest and most aggressive of [singer Chris Conley's] career," and Alternative Press idolized the band by featuring Saves The Day in the magazine's "The Oral History of" feature, stating: "[Saves The Day have] proved resilient to passing trends, and someday, they'll be remembered as much for their longevity as for their great songs and boundless work ethic."10/15 – Pomona, CA @ Bamboozle Left

Is he going to be playing STD songs? If so, that sounds like it is going to be great. They played an acoustic set at Warped and for the few songs I stood there for I was pleased.

he had by far the best set at bamboozle, if he just sat on the main stage and played all day i would have never left.

Was anyone else sort of disappointed by this news. I read "tour dates" and then I saw there was a press release, so I am thinking it was going to be a "tour." This is just 4 days... it is basically an extended weekend. I guess I was expecting a little more of a tour. Oh well, at least I got to see it at warped this year.

i just listened to Sound The Alarm yesterday and was thinking about how it never got the praise it truly deserved. It seemed like it came out and everyone was like "yeah, saves the day is back!" and then just forgot about it. i still think it's one of the best albums of the year (top 10 contender, at least, for me), but that might also just be because i can really relate to a lot of the lyrics right now.

I love Saves The Day quite a bit, but I couldn't get into Sound The Alarm much. It almost seemed like after all the criticism they got for In Reverie (which I enjoyed, although not as much as Stay What You Are), Chris succumbed to all the pressure and changed his voice to make the fans happy, but I just don't think it fits.

The album is alright, I guess. And I would definitely like to see them, or him, live.

what's the big fashion with people going solo at the minute? Chris Conley, Matt Skiba, Dustin Kersue?

i don't usually agree with what you say, but i love you for that.
pleasantly surprised it's not Gatsby's, heh. not that that album wasn't good, but i love Sound The Alarm to no end.

i can't decide between Sound The Alarm and The Bell & The Hammer for my album of the year, but i'll probably end up going with Sound The Alarm.

sound the alarm is DEFINITELY in my top 5 of the year. i love that record - its like all the saves the day records put into one. love it.

i love this man so much, and I cannot wait for the ottobar show. their show about a month ago at the ottobar was simply out of control, and made me the scene feel alive again for one night. man, what a show. i cannot wait.

That was an amazing show, and I totally agree with you. I think it really made an impression on Chris too, probably a big part of why he is coming back to the Ottobar for this little solo tour.

I'd give up a lot of things to see one of these shows. "I'm Sorry I'm Leaving" has some of my favorite STD songs.

I know what your sayin man. This last album actually has song si could not love. First album. Some songs i really reall ike from the album(Don't Know Why, Bones, 34, Delusional). I am a fan of both rocking out and keeping it chill and I really liked how In Reverie was both. I was upset that it appears chris had changed for people for the first time. I justified this by assuming he has to do what he has to do to "stay afloat" in this music industry. He basically works off commision. He can have high income years and low income years. I just feel like he has 100 In reverie-eque songs that wouldnt do well under the name Saves the Day just for the fact of STD old punk roots. Dont get me wrong.. I love the old shit. I just hope this tour will bring news that he plans on releasing some of these songs under his own name or something just so we can have both worlds. I know chris writes both types of songs. Sound the Alarm is fun but his slow shit could stick with me until i die.
