i would love to read the book.
the movie annoyed me because they spoke russian for most of it, except for some of the villagers. haha.

i bought everything is illuminated the other day - want to read it before i watch the film.

for recommendations, try 'post office' by charles bukowski, then if you like that, read 'factotum' and 'women' (which follow on from it).
also, 'the fuck-up' by arthur nersesian is a really good read.

i read everything is illuminated a while ago. I liked it, but the whole other side part of the book, the story line with the old shtetyl/ghetto story i thought was unnesecary.

I didn't see the movie, it looks pretty good though.

I love both books. JSF is one of my favorite authors.

Read Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell.

I just finished Extremely Loud last week and loved it.

But Everything is Illuminated isn't really catching my attention...I keep starting it, then stopping because I get confused.

Someone told my friend (who is jewish) to watch this movie and that it was "really funny" and she watched it with her entire family

I havent seen it, but apparently the first 10 minutes are comical, and then it becomes soul-crushingly depressing

I'm bumping this because I just saw the movie.

I loved it.

- i really liked the actor who played alex

it says on wikipedia that he's actually in a punk band which is pretty cool.

anyway - i really liked the movie.
