My review for My Chemical Romance (http://www.absolutepunk.net/mychemicalromance)'s new album, The Black Parade, can be found here (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?p=4595914). The album, which hits shelves tomorrow, comes highly recommended by yours truly.

i was plasently surprised by 3cfsr last year. I must admit after hearing singles off that album that weren't my favorite i had them pegged as a band whose 15 minutes were up too. but thankfully, they've done something too further to the scene and the genre with their time in the spotlight and that deserves praise in itself. i wish em a good long run with this album.

i was really happy you wrote this unbiased. I know you've been friends with the guys for quite some time, and for some reason bands around here that happen to be friends with certain staff members tend to get 98% percent reviews. Good Job, jared.

I will have this album at 11 tomorrow morning. I cannot wait, this has been two years in the waiting for me.

This album's good, and I wasn't a fan of previous releases.

Because we can't condone or support you attempting to illegally share music.

but its ok for ap staffers to brag about advance copies of albums they receive?

I'm no staff member...

...but "recieve" is the key word here. The "advance copies" they "recieve" come from the record company, not leaked to the interwebs.

i'm asking a valid question i'm not trying to start shit.

i just dont understand how they ap mods can come on the board and hype an album that hasn't been released yet and then expect people not to attempt to download it illegally or ask others how to find it.

1) They have offical copies. You don't. Therefore, they can talk about it as much as they want. Sure, you may not like it, but what are you going to do...

...but in this situation...

2) Go to http://www.theblackparade.com and listen to the whole thing, offically streaming. There. Now those with AND without advance copies can talk about it.

brandonrocks

nah man. i have it already. theyre pissed cause i was tyring to show someone else how to find it.

brandonrocks
10/23/06, 12:33 PM
the point i'm trying to make is that due to the hyping of advanced copies arent the ap staffers just creating more of what theyre trying to put a stop to?

Well, in that case, i think they'd rather you post the link to the legal album stream, instead of the illegal download link. ;)

By that logic, record companies shouldn't advertise, because it gets people too exited to get an album.

brandonrocks

record companies dont post reviews and talk about how the new album is.

True, but they do send advance review copies of the album to the press, who in turn review them. And the bands themselves talk about the album.

See, I'm just saying you can't be mad at AP for doing their job by reviewing albums that they get, just because you think that people will be jealous and want the album more.

But that whole arguement is nullified by the fact that there are legal ways of listening to the album right now. You can buy it in the UK, you can stream it on theblackparade.com, and you can stream it on AOL music. So they're doing the right thing by deleting your links.

And on that note, I think that's about it for me... don't want to clog up the thread anymore.

does anyone else think that House of Wolves sounds like something Jack White would sing if he wrote songs about hell and graves?

I dont know much about this band, but judging from the tunes that I saw them play on SNL, Im very surprised that no one has picked up on the enormous Queen influence of those songs (minus an amazing singer of course ha)

you must have been living under a rock this past month. I think the first thing anyone noticed was that they were majorly influenced by queen on this one.

Because the labels DIRECTLY send us copies. 99% of the time they're watermarked copies in our names, which means if in the event the CD leaks, they can trace it back to who's watermarked copy leaked the CD onto the internet. They also have a list of who is sent the CD. I don't see your logic here by complaining about us hyping our advanced copies we get. Labels send us the CDs so we'll hype them on the website and talk about them and get kids to buy the CD when it's released. Labels directly sending a music website's staff an advanced copy of a CD is not the same as some kid downloading a leaked copy of the CD off of a bit torrent or Limewire because more than likely the kid isn't going to hype the album to the mass amount of people as the staff member who was sent an official CD.

record companies dont post reviews and talk about how the new album is.
No, that's why they send it to us to review and talk about how the new album is.

The point of creating a hyper (you know, after expressing their actual opinions) is that they're trying to get you excited and hyped to BUY the album legally.

The band has really grown musically. For the moment, I really like this CD....that could change, but not right now!
