First off, can you let everyone know what you do in The Secret Handshake?
My name is Luis Dubuc and I do everything. I write and sing and play live. I have a live band such as a drummer and a another keyboard person sometimes, but I do everything in the studio.
You announced the signing with Triple Crown around early August. How have things been going with the label so far?
Yes totally!, everyone has been really helpful in making me feel welcome and theyre working hard for me.
How did you get linked to the label?
They heard the demos and flew out to LA to see me play while I was on tour.
You recently completed your label debut with Cory and James of The Rise. What was it like working with the two, and what can we expect to hear on the record?
It was neat b/c Jimmy flew over from the UK and we basically hid out at Cory's house in Austin, TX for around 5 weeks and made every song everything it could be. As far as what can be expected... well there's alot of soul on the record as well as fun songs. It is well rounded for sure.
What gear was used in the making of the disc?
I use a powerbook g4, reason, cubase, logic, m-audio midi keyboards. a powermac g5, electric vocoder, rocktron talkbox, and a few other things here and there.
How many songs ended up getting tracked?
14 songs.
Does this record have a title or release date yet?
The album is called "One Full Year" and is slated for an early spring release.
Now we here at AP.net leaked out a song not to long, called "Summer of 98." Should the fans be expecting to hear some more material soon?
Hopefully I'll get to show off some other songs soon athough im playing all new songs live so thats the best way.
