Kind of a dumb idea, but does anybody know any good songs about growing up I could put on this mix I am making? These are the songs I have already:
Blink182-Dammit
The Verve Pipe-Freshman
Third Eye Blind-Graduate
Blink182-Going away to college
Relient K-College Kids

Juliana Theory - Duane Joseph
Okay, it's not really about growing up, but it's about how his life used to be and how it's all changed and blah blah blah.

Haha right after my one relative died, I listened to nothing but Tuesday's Gone.
A growing up song to me is Going Away to College. And I don't know why but I also consider For Me This Is Heaven by Jimmy Eat World (probably cause it's my all time favorite song)
Others:
Less Than Jake-Look What Happened
Eve 6 - Here's to the Night
Mr Chainsaw by Alkaline Trio
comes to mind just because at the end he's like "in case you're wondering we're singing, about growing up, about giving in"
But there are much better songs to be found

what do they sound like; what's the name of their album?
It's somber indie-pop. Lots of muted trumpets and slower tempos. They broke up like 5 years ago, but put out a self-titled lp and ep on polyvinyl. The lyrics are really great, and it's fairly jazzy for this brand of music. They carry the Devin seal of approval.

No, you interpreted that wrong. His death was a growing up thing because it was my first experience with death. He died on a Tuesday so I listened to nothing but Tuesday's Gone. I just thought it was kind of funny that someone else would consider that a growing up song along with me, since it is one of Lynyrd Skynyrd's lesser known songs. Yea, so it wasn't a laughing a death thing. And Soco Ammaretto Lime is one of the greatest songs ever.
