Matt : Okay first things first, can you please state your name and what you do in the band?

Derrick : My name is Derrick and I play drums in Chiodos.

Matt : Okay I want the truth, which one of you came up with the idea for the name of Fluff My Boner for Sunday's Bamboozle Apperance?

Derrick: Ha, actually Fluff My Boner comes from a guitar tech that we had up in Canada. His name is Dave Arnold and I don't remember what we were talking about, we were talking about like how we needed a beer tech or something, like yea we need a beer tech and he's like I'll be your Boner Tech, Fluff my Boner and so that's actually where that came from and it kinda just stuck and we thought it was a funny joke so we used it and it was kinda like an inside joke.

Matt : It defintly attracted a lot of peoples attention there. I was at the show and people were all like Fluff My Boner, who's this? But yea, I think a lot of people were expecting bands, like just to name a few, Brand New or the Starting Line or big bands like that to be the secret band for Sunday's show and you guys came on and I think a lot of people were shocked, but in a good way.

Derrick: I know a lot of kids online talking about how it it was going to be some bigger band and I just thought it was funny because I already knew who it was.

Matt : Were you guys surprised when they asked you?

Derrick: Yea it was like, it was such an honor and I don't think any band played like two days at all, so it was really awesome. It was a great experience and a lot of fun.

Matt : Did you prefer playing Saturday or Sunday or were they both cool?

Derrick: They were both amazing. I couldn't choose. It was just like the two coolest days ever. It was also really cool because it was Matt and Jason's birthdays and it was both those days. Jason's birthday was Saturday and Matt's birthday was on Sunday. So yea it was a big celebration.

Matt : Speaking of that, your popularity has defintly increased ten-fold since "All's Well That End's Well". Were you guys surprised at how fast you've been rising in popularity?

Derrick: I think it's defintly a surprise at how fast it's been accomplished. I mean it's not like we wrote the CD and thinking "oh we're going to be huge" because we didn't know how it was going to work out or anything. We just wrote a CD that we wanted to listen to personally as like individuals and stuff. It's just amazing at the increase of people that like this CD and how drastic the fan-base is, bigger wise. It's just the fact that kids dig it and it's awesome. And I never thought it'd be this fast, but I mean, it's awesome. and we plan to stay on top of our game and always bringing new stuff in.

Matt : Any plans for a new album?

Derrick : As soon as we get off this Atreyu tour. I mean it's been so long because we've been touring so long on this album just trying to get our names out there and we think building a good solid fan base comes from touring a lot and hard work, so we've been doing that a lot , and as soon as this Atreyu tour is done, November 19th, we're gonna head home to have some time off for Thanksgiving and then writing our new record and then we're going to go out on another tour in Februrary, and then after that, I believe in March is when we're going to record. So hopefully the new record will come out around Warped Tour time.

Matt : Any ideas for the new album, anything written out yet?

Derrick : Yea we actually have one song completely written. And tonight, I mean, we open up our set with the intro, and then after the intro we play a little clip of a new part of a song and then after No Penguins in Alaska, like the breakdown at the end or whatever, we play another little clip of another song. So it's like a little preview of stuff we have written. We do have one song completely written that we're really really stoked on. It's got like all the elements of our abnd but I think it's put together a lot better. And we have a lot of other songs in the works that's not completely done, but we have a good 6 songs. Like 1 complete and 5 others started so we're pretty stoked. We're going to try and write as many songs as we can and pick and choose from that to make the best record possible. Pretty much our plan is to write these songs and we're going to figure out the order of which they go in, like as we write flow the songs altogether, not neccesarily like write a song and be like "oh yea that's a good first song for the beginning of the album". It's going to be like a storyline and then we're figure out what our story is going to be and how it ties together.

Matt : Speaking of Warped Tour, how was it this past year?

Derrick : It was amazing. It was like, Bamboozle like everyday. It was insane, and we got moved up to the Hurley stage because they were afraid the kids were going to get hurt because it was just getting crazy, but we didn't want to move up because they were such intense shows, it was like a small club vibe on a small Warped Tour stage, and everyone was digging it. But we moved up to the Hurley Stage and that was super awesome too. Kids were still really responsive so it was pretty much teh best summer ever. It was just something you always dreamed of since you were little playing music.

Matt : You're currently on tour with Every Time I Die, Atreyu, and From First To Last. How's that going?

Derrick : It's going amazing. That tour is an awesome life. All the dudes we've been on tours with and it's just cool on the first day to be like hey whatsup dude how've you been? And the shows have been amazing. I think every band draws their own crowd and it's cool. Yea it's been an awesome tour and it's like one of hte biggest we've ever been on so that's amazing.

Matt : Have you guys been getting drunk with Keith Buckley?

Derrick : [Laughs] We were talking about this the other day. Yea who's Keith? [Laughs] Nah that's what he told me to say. But yea he's a fun dude to hang out with. I wouldn't neccesarily say we drink a lot with him. Everyone keeps track and keeps it under moderation. You're around younger kids at a show, and things can get too rowdy, and we've learned what happens. We had a little incident the other day where we had to calm down..

Matt : What brought you guys to Albany in the first place to do this headlining show?

Derrick : We did this show because we used to always play shows in Albany when we first got on the label and the shows are done by the booking agents and stuff, but luckily we had a day off between yesterday's show and Phili and tomorrow's show in Massachusets so we were like "we'll just play an off show" and headline in Albany, it'd be awesome. We didn't care at all or anything. I'd rather be playing a show and hanging out then sitting somewhere doing nothing, sitting online waiting for a friend to get so I can talk to or something.

Matt : How's Equal Vision been treating you guys?

Derrick : They've been amazing man. They put us out there, they were the ones to get our name out there and get all of this started. Albany represents man.

Matt : You guys just released a re-issue of "All's Well That Ends Well" with three acoustic tracks. What was the motivation behind that?

Derrick : Well like right now, we don't have a lot of records in stores so it's kind of just like one more push to put our record over the top. You know, we were like let's make a DVD of our footage, just a short DVD and some songs so it will get back in stores and that will hold us over until we're finished recording our next record. Because kids are like 'oh it seems like they released this record and their not going to record anything else. We plan on writing the best record we could possibly write. This record will have nothing on our next record. So that's why we want as much time as possible with it, but yea, so we don't have to keep people waiting. We don't want to release an EP like how Saosin did it and it took forever for their album to come out. I mean they're an awesome band and they're all great dudes but I don't want to make people wait that long.

Matt : Final question, any plans to reissue any earlier material?

Derrick : That's a good question. I mean, I dunno. Maybe sometime in the future. It hasn't really been talked about. Right now the only thing getting talked about is getting our music video out there more and hopefully a reissue would be good to keep the hype up behind our band playing shows before getting ready to record the new album.

Why not Radley or Craig?

Craig was floating around yelling out random shit, and Radley was fucking around with the keyboard.
