Let's starting name some songs with great lyrics.
I'll go first, naturally.
The Receiving End of Sirens:
"Flee The Factory"
One hoped they'd break the patent when they die cast me in stride.
Just a simple steel specimen, truly empty down inside.
With copper-core wound veins, a pumping cold hydraulic heart,
Bellows cycle air on rhythms, rhythms fixed within my code.
[Chorus:]
It's easier to bow than keep these knees locked tight
Like the rivets in my skin.
My pulse reverberates through this malleable shell,
With scars from shaping.
My pulse reverberates through this malleable shell,
With scars from breaking shell.
My insides grind their gears.
Abrasive churning, I'm so conductive.
It's always been a task with such low impedance.
My tendons tend to rust with time while wires misplace their currents
So I will flee the factory, and pray you to dismantle me.
[Chorus]
Someone find my maker; I'm coming apart at the seams.
I'll cauterize myself back together again.
My pulse reverberates through this malleable shell
My pulse reverberates through this malleable shell

because i have too.
my heart is the worst kind of weapon by fall out boy
I spent most of last night dragging this lake
for the corpses of all my past mistakes
sell me out - the joke's on you
we are salt - you are the wound
empty another bottle
and let me tear you to pieces
this is me wishing you
into the worst situations
I'm the kind of kid
that can't let anything go
but you wouldn't know a good thing
if it came up and slit your throat
Woah [x2]
Ooo
Woah [x2]
Your remorse hasn't fallen on deaf ears
rather ones that just don't care
cause I know
that you're in between arms somewhere
next to heartbeats
where you shouldn't dare sleep
Now I'll teach you a lesson
for keeping secrets from me
Take your taste back
peel back your skin
and try to forget how it feels inside
you should try saying no once in a while
oh once in a while
[x2]
And did you hear the news?
I could dissect you
and gut you on this stage
not as eloquent as I may have imagined
but it will get the job done (you're done)
every line is plotted and designed
to leave you standing
on your bedroom window's ledge
and everyone else that it hits
that it gets to
is nothing more than collateral damage
Take your taste back
peel back your skin
and try to forget how it feels inside
you should try saying no once in a while
oh once in a while

Nice. I remember in an interview Pete saying he wished he hadn't written that song. That song used to be on constant replay for me a year or two ago.

Thrice:
"Under A Killing Moon"
The air my lungs first loved
Carves craters from my eyes
They said "breathe deeply son
Or be the next to die"
Beneath the falling night
And heaven's shutting gate
Pray keep your tongue held tight
Or suffer the same fate
The blood on our black gloves
It is none of your concern
If you want to call our bluff
Get in line and wait your turn
And watch the witches burn"
Don't flinch when innocents
Are dancing with the flame
If they wanted to live
They'd learn to play the game
You can still walk away
If you just hold your tongue
If you'd just walk away
You'd live to see the sun but"
Under this killing moon
Under this burning sky
The fire's shining groom
I hold my breath and close my eyes
"The blood on our black gloves
It is none of your concern
If you want to call our bluff
Get in line and wait your turn
And watch the witches burn
We'll watch the witches burn"

Colour Revolt "Mattresses under water"
here are places
Some of us can't face yet
And even though we see it
We just swear God's sleeping
So we say,
"Ash to ash, dust to dust,
We're all gonna die so we have to
trust in something"
But it's probably nothing
There's gotta be something
Now we mean it in our homes where we're sleeping
We call it mattresses underwater but the gutters are seeping
So we say,
"Ask and ask and we'll return
The same favors till its our own turn"
We got ash in our pockets and dust in the urn,
Another forty years for you
And yours to learn
Love was made like a ship at bay, never to see waves
We'll probably all crash anyway
When we see it we don't believe it
We've got our faces made for smiling, but we are weeping
We got ash in our pockets and dust in the urn
Another forty years for you and yours to learn
You say, "all you ever talk about is dying and it's getting so old"
And we say, "love was made
Like a book or a page just ripped out but we never read anyway"
And you say "love was made like a ship at bay never to see waves"
We should probably get used to it, but we don't
Now I see it...
She's got her hands in her pockets and she's walking around
She's got a face made for smiling but she's making a frown
She says, "all you ever talk about is letting us down
If you ever see me dying, just put me in the ground"

Circle takes the square-A crater to cough in
This path that we walk upon is the collection of points that the rain has drawn.
The rhythm section of the storm.
By the moonlight to the gateposts of the forest,
in the snow light, we are bound for the portal of the pines.
Grey as famine, on this path against our will by our main sails we're bound to the tempest until the sea is still.
Which compulsion with this miniature death tributize?
From behind the walls of my broken coughing tent, a formal vision,
but I allude to my helpless passion for the obtuse
When will this night end?
When the lightening finally tears through the mast of our sinking ship.
All the hopes of the slaves are betrayed by the grates.
On this coffin of a vessel every note's another breaking wave.
Revel in this vision, a formal visitation, on the night with the light from above.
Famished dogs follow slowly as my own paws drag me to a dock,
to the last plank where I struggle to deny myself the path that every Pisces craves,
just above the water in the middle of that man-made lake.
On that pier I turn my eyes from the water like a mirror of myself in the moonlight,
and I cough for every crater that I could see,
on the surface of that coffin we've come to call the moon.
Now I wonder if all those judgments that you made were true.
And the trapdoor of the solstice is thrown wide, wide open.
Let them all sink, let them all sink through.
The talking, the spinning of a web- its all just formal ritual.
The burning.
The burning question what do you deserve?
The gazing at a candle to find calm, but we all know its at the center of the storm.
Oh moon, though pluckest me out, oh moon-
I who have sat by Thebes below the wall and walked among the lowest of the dead
(to Carthage then I came).
Only the most sacred crater will suit my burial,
only the most sacred choir performs this ritual dirge.
Perfectly imperfect, like a storm.
By our mane dragged and bound to our grave by our mane,
to the grave dragged and bound to the tomb by the scavenger's tooth.

my little world, my sad, little world.
and then a speckled bird, humbly inspired, ran across the road when it could have flown and it made me smile. and at the waters edge, babylon, as we lay and slept, the river wept, "would you Zion?" stones cried out "build and shape the sky! all creation grows...

messes of men in poverty not much from us. but we pretend to be sharicidal at meals and a pot of chammomile. gypsies like us should be stamped with solidarity. and i held you in my fond but distant memory while waiting for the mother hen to gather me, but regretfully wrote: "you have a decent ear for notes, but you cant yet appreciate harmony."
o, porcupine, low in your tree. your eyes to mine, youd be well inclined not to mess with me. later at the garden dead, beneathe the speechless sky as his friend slept, jesus wept. (?) its no wonder why you wanna be set free. you wanna set me free but i can only come from a union with the one who never died.
in my little world, in my sad, little world,
i patched a plaster wall, in my little world.
in my little world, i was waiting, just dying to take a taste of something, in my little world.
in my little world, in my sad, little world, this is all there is in my little world.
*chanting*
in darkness, a light shines on me.
in darkness, a light shines on you.
i never get figs from a thorny branch?
i never picked a grain from off a bramble bush
and i pass by almost 6 years now,
and you know you haven't once looked at me with kindness in your eye
and you say 'jesus is a brother of mine'
homeward sister and i
darkness and light shines, so everyone sings
but my life is held down like god
you know i've been mistaken while missing that point
and that light, is God

Thrice - So Strange I Remember You (my favorite of theirs)
So strange I remember you in protest of a prayer,
and falling back from seas we fear to sail.
I swear I saw the shooter, gold teeth and a double dare,
Postmodern warnings seem inclined to fail.
Feigning an apology.
Those words they never left your lips.
Those 5 years in Bermuda slide by like the lights of passing ships,
So strange that I remember you,
kneeling deep in Nietzsche's lies
my throat was an open grave i drank your stained glass eyes
and they taste like dead cathedrals
that are crumbling beneath a weight, ten thousand jaded tourists
who've traded in their hearts and hands for
disposable cameras, set to document to decay,
set to capture just enough of life to catalogue the things we throw away.
(...breathing the fumes of our machines...)
We've lost our way.
(...breathing through television dreams...)
If we could only see us now.
If we could only see us now.
The words of the dead ring in our ears,
but its only a lie.
The voice in your head brings you to tears,
but you don't know why.
The words of the dead ring in our ears,
but its only a lie.
The voice in your head brings you to tears,
but its only a lie,
yes, its only a lie,
...isn't it?

I've been listening to this song a lot lately:
A Lack of Color - Death Cab for Cutie
and when I see you
I really see you upside down
but my brain knows better
it picks you up and turns you around
turns you around, turns you around
if you feel discouraged
that there's a lack of color here
please don't worry lover
it's really bursting at the seams
absorbing everything
the spectrum's a to z
this is fact not fiction
for the first time in years
all the girls in every girly magazine
can't make me feel any less alone
i'm reaching for the phone
to call at 7:03
on your machine I slur a plea for you to come home
but i know it's too late
i should have given you a reason to stay
given you a reason to stay
this is facts not fiction
for the first time in years

I just like a few lines from this song:
And I've seen a drunken poet
Spilling verses on the bar
I wish I remembered them so beautiful and so dark
And I watched that moment flicker
As they vanished in the air
Right in front of me but he didn't seem to care

Lyricaly I really admire anything written by Conor Oberst.
"The Trees Get Wheeled Away"
Anchormen spike their blood
Wear masks of mud
Cucumbers cut to fit their eyes
And so no one would know how tired they've grown
Of talking and telling their lies
While your tvs change stations scroll messages
Victims and Christians both drinking blood
And they pray for the destruction of all hatred
More often just those with hate for us
Cause it hurts when you discover one's worse and one's better
To suffer or cause others to
And you can live by your conscience
Now guilt is a concept
You're no longer subscribing to
There's a virgin in my bed
And she's taking off her dress
I don't know what I am gonna do
There's a song stuck in my head
And I can't help singing it
Oh how I hope my singing pleases you
Cause this is not who I've become
But what you made me into
Oh we got no health insurance
No cellular service
No disease they can cure
But we need more money to burn
So each person must learn the dollar amount they are worth
And your pills make me dizzy
Forgetting my body
I watch as it walks away
And I just keep drinking the poison
And smoking the cartons
a pack and a half a day
So when time comes to claim me
My friends and my family will gather around my grave
And they'll believe that they knew me and loved me and missed me
And all call me by my name
So imagine what you want
And then hold on to that thought
Cause that's as close as it will ever come
and believe you're where you are
just keep acting out the part
but at the end of the day the trees all get wheeled away
and you'll be standing alone in a blank blank space
so believe you're who you are
and just stay in character
but at the end of the play the audience walks away
and you'll be shivering cold on a well lit stage.

Pink Bullets-The Shins
I was just bony hands as cold as a winter pole
You held a warm stone out new flowing blood to hold
Oh what a contrast you were
To the brutes in the halls
My timid young fingers held a decent animal.
Over the ramparts you tossed
The scent of your skin and some foreign flowers
Tied to a brick
Sweet as a song
The years have been short but the days were long.
Cool of a temperate breeze from dark skies to wet grass
We fell in a field it seems now a thousand summers passed
When our kite lines first crossed
We tied them into knots
And to finally fly apart
We had to cut them off.
Since then it's been a book you read in reverse
So you understand less as the pages turn
Or a movie so crass
And awkardly cast
That even I could be the star.
I don't look back as much as a rule
And all this way before murder was cool
But your memory is here and I'd like it to stay
Warm light on a winter day.
Over the ramparts you tossed
The scent of your skin and some foreign flowers
Tied to a brick
Sweet as a song
The years have been short but the days go slowly by
Two loose kites falling from the sky
Drawn to the ground and an end to flight.

"The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot"-Brand New
If it makes you less sad I will die by your hand. I hope you find out what you are, I already know what I am. And if it makes you less sad we'll start talking again. You can tell me how vile I already know that I am.
I'll grow old and start acting my age. I'll be a brand new day in a life that you hate. A crown of gold, a heart thats harder than stone but it hurts a whole lot and its missed when its gone.
Call me a safe bet, I'm betting I'm not. I'm glad that you can forgive, I'm only hoping as time goes on you can forget.
If it makes you less sad, I'll move out of this state. You can keep you yourself. I'll keep out of your way. And if it makes you less sad I'll take your pictures all down. Every picture you paint I will paint myself out.
It's cold as a tomb and its dark in your room when I sneak to your bed to pour salt on your wounds. So call it quits or get a grip. You say you wanted a solution, you just wanted to be missed.
Call me a safe bet, I'm betting I'm not. I'm glad that you can forgive. I'm only hoping as time goes on you can forget. So you can forget.
You are calm and reposed, let your beauty unfold. Pale white like the skin stretched over your bones. Spring keeps you ever close, you are second hand smoke. You are so fragile and thin, standing trial for your sins. Holding on to yourself the best you can. You are the smell before rain, you are the blood in my veins.
Call me a safe bet, I'm betting I'm not. I'm glad that you can forgive. I'm only hoping as time goes on you can forget.

The Postal Service:
"Such Great Heights"
I am thinking it's a sign that the freckles
In our eyes are mirror images and when
We kiss they're perfectly aligned
And I have to speculate that God himself
Did make us into corresponding shapes like
Puzzle pieces from the clay
And true, it may seem like a stretch, but
Its thoughts like this that catch my troubled
Head when you're away when I am missing you to death
When you are out there on the road for
Several weeks of shows and when you scan
The radio, I hope this song will guide you home
They will see us waving from such great
Heights, 'come down now,' they'll say
But everything looks perfect from far away,
'come down now,' but we'll stay...
I tried my best to leave this all on your
Machine but the persistent beat it sounded
Thin upon listening
And that frankly will not fly. You will hear
The shrillest highs and lowest lows with
The windows down when this is guiding you home

This isn't at all unpleasent. I'm enchanted by the lavish ballet, and I'll whistle the tune all the way to the gallows that I heard at the cabaret. At the sheriff's singal, the orchestra moves the floor. Don't it make you feel wonderful? Body twisting strictly ballroom. Criminally elegant ideal postured Viennese waltzer I'm dressed to kill. I'm weightless and well rehearsed. In my godless opera my character is canonized. Unhand me. This is a musical and nothing goes wrong. Can't keep the classics out of the head of the masochists. Strike up the band. It's 245 beats for a measure or 5 beats for 6 steps on alternating feet. The show must go on. Never mind the teeth and the fingernails, the show must go on. I don't feel at all like I thought I would, but I could probably go on like this forever. Tonight we dance, for tomorrow they release the dogs. 1,2,3. 1,2,3. Keep it up. 1,2,3. Savor it. Where is my head? Where is my heart? Everything vanishes

this is me at my darkest
looking down from my tower to heaven
my reputation is what I am on the scale
in the eyes of mankind
the more I get beneath me,
the higher, and more out of reach
teacher, which of us will be the greatest
we will wear compassion
we will wear it on our chests
and sing with love at our throats
like a child, it's all I know
Father, hide our hearts in you
lest we steal them back
and lay them at the feet of men
I know now that glory has not a place
near my hands or any man

A moment of silence, please, for those who never get the chance
They show up to the party, but they're never asked to dance
The losers, the liars, the bastards, the thieves
The cynicists, the pessimists, and those that don't believe in nothing
I never met a loser that I didn't see eye-to-eye with, I declare
I stare into your eyes
But you look right past me into the air
What's it like to stand in your shoes?
To have never felt the belt of somebody's abuse?
I take the bottle and I tip it to all my heroes that have passed
Alas, you have left us, but your stories they will last
Uninspired by the recruiting call
Independent we stand
Independent we fall
So tell me: how long do you think you can go before you lose it all?
Before they call you bluff and watch you fall?
I don't know, but I'd like to think I had control
At some point, but I let it go and lost my soul
Sit tight, but the revolution's years away
I'm losing faith and I'm running low on things to say
So, I guess I have no choice but to regurgitate
The tired anthem of a loser and a hypocrite
Oh! To have died that night, I realized it wouldn't last
Our days were numbered and the reaper tipped the hourglass
The final mayday of our sinking ship had come and passed
Oh! To the west, you don't know what it is you're running from
And everybody's laughing loud
Your last chance to make your mother and your father proud
Oh, oh, oh...
A moment of silence, please, for those who never get the chance
They show up to the party, but they're never asked to dance
The losers, the liars, the bastards, the thieves
The cynicists, the pessimists, and those that don't believe in nothing
They said "a pox,
Upon your house,
Upon your family and everyone you knew
And everyone you'll ever meet"
I bet they think we wish we joined when we could
But we do what we want, we don't do what we should
Now, everybody's laughing, 'cause they're thinking they're in on something I don't get
Don't forget
I connect and I read every word you said
Like a child who believes he was wronged
If you hate me so much, then stop singing my songs
So tell me: how long do you think you can go before you lose it all?
Before they call you bluff and watch you fall?
I don't know, but I'd like to think I had control

Cursive
So he would sulk and drink and mope
and cross his arms and hope to die.
And then a fairy came one night
to bring this sorry boy to life.
She pulled some strings
and spun him about.
That boy sprang up
and began to shout,
"My arms, my legs, my heart, my face they're alive!"
And she would cry, "Liar, liar!
What have I done?
You're no lover, and I'm no fighter."
(The story goes on)
So he would buy her things and kiss her hair
to show he was for real.
And she would take those gifts and kisses
though just stringing him along.
She knew about those wooden boys-
it's an empty love to fill the void.
"Pinocchio! Oh boy, how your nose has grown!"
So he would cry, "Liar, liar!
I'll prove it to you!"
But then it grew
He had grown tired of her
So it was true
He left her apartment
And he walked all night long
'til he was stopped by the shore of the ocean.
But still he walked on, amongst the whales
and the waves, and screamed
"Liar, liar!"
And his wooden body floated away.
He just drifted away.
And now I wonder how i was made...
my arms, my legs, my heart, my face,
my name is Driftwood.

"Rise Up!! Rise Up!!"
dear preacher, thanks for making time for me today
hope you don't mind if i hide behind the curtain
it's been fifteen years since my last confession
by your good book's standards, i've sinned like a champion
but that book seems a tad bit out-dated
please forgive me, for questioning divinity
it's an ugly job, but i think i'm up for it
i'm not saying who's right
i'm just saying there's more than one way
to skin a religion
there's more than one way
to explain our existence
reverend, sir, i don't want to seem malevolent
my teenage angst is far behind me
but father, certainly it's troubling to see
all these people kneeling, instead of dealing
with the fact that we are all we have
so, rise up! rise up!
there's no one to worship!
but plenty of life to lose!
i'm not saying "let's burn down the church"
but do you want to hear my confession?
it's my greatest sin..
okay, here it is:
i wasted half my life on the thought that i'd live forever!
i wasn't raised, to seize the day, but to work and worship
'cause "he that liveth and believeth" supposedly never dies
rise up! rise up!
and live a full life!
'cause when it's over, it's done
so rise up! rise up!
dance and scream and love!

I'm alone
Sitting with my empty glass
My four walls
Follow me through my past
I was on a Paris train
I emerged in London rain
And you were waiting there
Swimming through apologies
I remember searching for the perfect words
I was hoping you might change your mind
I remember a soldier sleeping next to me
Riding on the metro
You wore white
Smiling as you took my hand
So removed
We spoke of wintertime in France
Minutes passed with shallow words
Years have passed and still I hurt, oh
I can see you now
Smiling as I pulled away
I remember a letter wrinkled in my hand
I love you always filled my eyes
I remember the night we walked along the Seine
Riding on the metro
I remember a feeling coming over me
The soldier turned, then looked away
I remember hating you for loving me
Riding on the metro
I'm alone
Sitting with my broken glass
My four walls
Follow me through my past
I was on a Paris train
I emerged in London rain
And you were waiting there

keep trying to catch your ear
i'm trying desperately
it's just so hard to persevere
and even if you listened
i never had much to say
cause it's the same old song
i've written for the day
shelter me oh genius words
just give me strength
just to pen these things
and give me peace to well her wings
and oh carry on all you minstrels of the world
we will catch our ladies ear
we will win for us the girl
all these minstrels through the ages
that is really all we are
simply singing for the girl
that makes us try so very hard
to craft the perfect limerick
to wield unending woe
to write such silly songs
and the difference never know
shelter me oh genius words
just give me strength
just to pen these things
and give me peace to well her wings
and oh carry on all you minstrels of the world
we will catch our ladies ear
we will win for us the girl
and i'll hold on to the dream
of this beggar's plea and optimistic fantasy
just hold the hand and drop the knee
you're facing love
you're embracing melody
shelter me oh genius words
just give me strength
just to pen these things
and give me peace to well her wings

Attention! Attention!
May I have all your eyes and ears to the front of the room,
if only, if only for one second.
This table has taken a turn for the worst.
Rock bottom and over the edge
well it's not like it hurts that much anyway.
Upside down and inside out.
When I leave here I'm going alone.
Well it's not like, it not like it hurts much anyway.
Attention! Attention!
May I have all your eyes and ears to the front of the room,
if only, if only for one second.
Will you hear what I have to say?
Oh, did I mention when I see you it stings like hell?
To the fact that we could have something that'll never happen.
Will you hear what I have to?
This balance has weighed out our heart's desire.
I'm trying to make it alone.
Well it's not like it hurts that much anyway.
Upside down and inside out.
When I leave here I'm going alone.
But I'm dying, I'm dying to touch.
And it's not like, it not like it hurts much anyway.
Attention! Attention!
May I have all your eyes and ears to the front of the room,
if only, if only for one second.
Will you hear what I have to say?
Oh, did I mention when I see you it stings like hell?
To the fact that we could have something, something.
Attention! Attention!
May I have all your eyes and ears to the front of the room,

Well, you're just across the street
Looks a mile to my feet
I want to go to you
Funny how I'm nervous still
I've always been the easy kill
I guess I always will
Could it be that everything goes 'round by chance? (chance?)
Or only one way that it was always meant to be (be)
You kill me, you always know the perfect thing to say (hey hey, hey hey)
I know what I should do, but I just can't walk away
I can picture your face well
From the bar in my hotel
I wish I'd go to you
I pick up put down the phone
Like your favorite Heatmeiser song goes
It's just like being alone
Oh God, please don't tell me this has been in vain (vain)
I need answers for what all the waiting I've done means (means)
You kill me, you've got some nerve, but can't face your mistakes (hey hey, hey hey)
I know what I should do, but I just can't turn away
So go on love
Leave while there's still hope for escape
Got to take what you can these days
There's so much ahead
So much regret
I know what you want to say
(Know what you want to say)
I know it but can't help feeling differently
I loved you, and I should have said it
But tell me just what has it ever meant
I can't help it baby, this is who I am (am)
Sorry, but I can't just go turn off how I feel (feel)
You kill me, you build me up, but just to watch me break (hey hey, hey hey)
I know what I should do, but I just can't walk away

i want to take the bullet,
the one aimed straight for your heart,
i want to meet the wolves halfway,
and let them tear me apart.
but that's not the way they do it here.
i want to lay on the tracks,
feel hot steel screaming at me,
expose the bones on my back,
let me show you what i mean.
yeah its a different kind of love,
i want to climb barbed wire fences
and warm our hands in blood.
and this is my gift,
is asking you to fix
my ruined hands.
and its a gift that keeps on giving,
and its a gift that keeps on giving,
and its a gift that keeps on giving,
and right now its all i have to give.
i want to lay on the tracks,

Some Relient K:
"My Way Or The Highway..."
Should I start this song off with a question?
Or should I say what's on my mind.
(Add a cello here to add a sad impression).
Cause I'm not looking forward to leaving my friends all behind.
I didn't vote (though I'm not proud), cause I'm Canadian, and I'm not allowed.
Give it a go or throw in the towel.
Stand all alone or swim through the crowd.
No one around to help you decide.
It's time to make up your mind.
It's time to make up your mind.
By the wayside we fell.
He said, "It's my way or the highway to hell."
It's your decision, choose it well.
He said, "It's my way or the highway to hell."
Decisions we make; life's an election.
Precision we take, seeking direction.
But there's so many lies.
Unsure where we can look.
But we've got a guide- a really thick handbook.
No one around to help you decide.
It's time to make up your mind.
It's time to make up your mind.
Are you with me or against me?
Noticed you're sitting on the fence.
We wondered why yo'ure not cut and dry.
You got to choose our side and live, or their side and die.
Which hand holds your soul?
Do you want to guess one?
If it scares you to death, may that be your lesson.
It's your decision, make it the best one.
And should I end this song off with a question?

"The Rest Is Up To You"
I was just about
to quote Mark Twain
when I realized that
it's all in vain.
A twist of fate,
a twisted look of pain.
To defeat the wheat,
go against the grain.
I know
I know
I know
I know
I know what you've been through.
But there's only so much one can do.
Now the rest is up to you...
the rest is up to you.
The rest is up to you.
The rest is up to you.
The rest is up to you.
The rest is up to you.
The rest is up to you.
The rest is up to you.
Your mentor's become
your tormentor.
Give him the money,
but is it for rent or
will you get burnt for the countless time?
Your head starts to hurt.
You just close your eyes.
I know
I know
I know
I know
I know what he did to you.
But there's only so much on can do.
The rest is up to you...
the rest is up to you.
The rest is up to you.
The rest is up to you
The rest is up to you
The rest is up to you
The rest is up to you
The rest is up to you
This speech is merely words.
It's even worse because it rhymes.
Give me a minute or your time,
I'll have a minute of your time.
And I can't make this click.
And I can't tattoo your mind.
But you know this ain't no trick.
Take it or leave it all behind.
The rest is up to you (the rest is up to you)
The rest is up to you (the rest is up to you)
The rest is up to you (the rest is up to you)
(Gave my advice, done all I can)
The rest is up to you
(It's your life, it's in your hands)
The rest is up to you
(Why don't...)
The rest is up to you
Why don't you try to slow down?
Slow things down.
Slow things down.
'Cause I know you're hurting.
So put down your burdens.
Crucify your doubts and just reach out
Reach out to Jesus.
Embrace him.
Turn your life around to face him.
You'll find mercy,
you'll see
grace, love, and beauty
defined in his
face.
You'll find mercy,
you'll see
grace, love, and beauty
defined in his
face.

thickening streams of greed as bit by bit it
starts the need to just let go my party piece
oh i miss the kiss of treachery the aching kiss
before i feed the stench of a love for a younger
meat and the sound that it makes when it cuts
in deep the holding up on bended knees the
addiction of duplicities as bit by bit it starts
the need to just let go my party piece
but i never said i would stay to the end so i
leave you with babies and hoping for frequency
screaming like this in the hope of the secrecy
screaming me over and over and over i leave
you with photographs pictures of trickery
stains on the carpet and stains on the scenery
songs about happiness murmured in dreams
when we both us knew how the ending would
be...
so it's all come back round to breaking apart
again breking apart like i'm made up of glass
again making it up behind my back again
holding my breath for the fear of sleep again
holding it up behind my head again cut in deep
to the heart of the bone again round and round
and round and it's coming apart again over and
over and over
now that i know that i'm breaking to pieces i'll
pull out my heart and i'll feed it to anyone
crying for sympathy crocodile cry for the love
of the crowd and the three cheers from
everyone dropping through sky through the
glass of the roof through the roof of your mouth
through the mouth of your eye through the eye
of the needle it's easier for me to get closer to
heaven than ever feel whole again
i never said i would stay to the end i knew i
would leave you with babies and everything
screaming like this in the hole of sincerity
screaming me over and over and over i leave
you with photographs pictues of trickery
stains on the carpet and stains on the memory
songs about
happiness murmured in dreams when we both
of us knew how the end always is...
how the end always is...
Thursday - Steps Ascending
steps ascend to a loaded gun.
the scent of matches hangs in the air
(a lit one flickers out in a hearbeat).
we don't want to see this:
a flash of light that's letting go
of an empty bullet case,
by the time it hits the ground,
he's out of reach. (let go, let go.)
out of reach. (let go, let go.)
out of reach. (let go, let go.)
out of reach. (let go, let go.)
out of reach
the wolves are closing in.
there's no room left to make amends, but
do you remember when we'd fly that kite so high?
all the time we've wasted,
spent fighting,
will burn
in the fire of our regrets
all the time we've wasted,
spent fighting,
it's blood
and it's running down the stairs.
freeze the frame
between the gun shot and the hole it makes.
a spinning bullet hangs in the middle.
there's no way to stop it,
it will surely hit the mark
you can try to understand
but I'm giving up.
giving up.
giving up.
the synapse fires, it's right in time.
I'm giving up.
giving up.
giving up.
this should always stay
out of reach. (let go, let go.)
out of reach. (let go, let go.)
out of reach. (let go, let go.)
out of reach. (let go, let go.)
the wolves are closing in.
there's no room left to make amends, but
do you remember when we'd fly that kite so high?
all the time we've wasted,
spent fighting,
will burn
in the fire of our regrets
all the time we've wasted,
spent fighting,
it's blood
and it's running down the stairs.
I ran down the stairs
and into the garden,
put both my hands into the soil.
in the spring,
you will bloom,
like her heart,
through the blouse,
in the back of the ambulance,
as it turned and turned down the street
(one more turn won't you come back to me?)
as it turned on its red lights,
you were turning into
red roses
red roses
red roses
red roses
but I'm not giving up.

Ain’t nothin left here for me
So I’m out this bitch
Fuck stayin here
I’m buzzin the fuck all the bout
We out this motha fucka right now
There’s no story that ain’t been told
There ain’t no gimmick that ain’t been sold
There’s no ocean that never been swam

There’s no feat that no one can
There’s no saga that never began
Ain’t no snow that didn’t melt
There’s no punch that ain’t been felt
There’s no skill that no ones learned
There’s no planet that he ain’t turned
There’s no feud that never dissolved
There ain’t no problem that ain’t been solved
There’s no tale that no ones told
There’s no beauty that won’t get old
There’s no garden the sun ain’t beamed on
There’s no shoulder that ain’t been leaned on
There’s no colour that ain’t been seen
Purple, yellow, forest green
There’s no desert that ain’t seen rain
Nobody here that ain’t felt pain
There’s no bigot that ain’t been clowned
There’s no treasure that I ain’t found
Ain’t no cave they never explored
Ain’t no mother that ain’t been ignored

and my second entry:
Blue October- Amazing:
How am I supposed to breathe?
I try to relax. I touch your still frame
So I can watch you closer
And study the ways I believe I belong to you
I scratch at your waist line... your doll hair
I dig up the thought of how your eyes glow
So I make you my religion, my collision, an escape goat
So have I found your secret weak spot, baby?
[Chorus]
Can you pretend I'm amazing?
I can pretend I'm amazing...
Instead of what we both know
I cut to the punch line baby
Can you pretend I'm amazing
Instead of what we both know
Now our history is for sale
And for that I apoligize
You see you're my only know how
The study of when I believe I belonged to you
You see I've made you into something delicious,
My sweet ghost
So have I found your secret weak spot, baby?

Hello little boys, little toys
We're the dreams you're believin'
Crawling up the walls
Running down your face
Razor sharp, Razor clean
Feel the weapon's sensation

Now hold onto me pretty baby

it's the end of the world as we know it (and i feel fine) by REM.
That's great it starts with an earthquake
Birds and snakes and aeroplanes
Lenny Bruce is not afraid
Eye of a hurricane listen to yourself churn
World serves its own needs dummy serve your own needs
Speed it up a notch speed grunt nose street burn
The ladder starts to clatter with dinner fight down height
Wire in a fire room represent the southern gangs
In a government for hire and a combat site
Lefty wasn't coming in a hurry
With the furies breathing down your neck
Team by team reporters grapple trunk tethered crop
Look at that low plane fine then
Uh oh overflow population cornered
But it'll do save yourself serve yourself
World serves its own needs listen to your heartbeat
Tell me that the reds are in the reverend in the right right?

Slash and burn return listen to yourself churn lock him in uniform
And book-burning blood-letting every motive escalate
Automotive incinerate light a candle light a votive
Step down step down watching heel crush crush
Uh oh this means no fear cavalier renegade steer clear
A tournament a tournament a tournament of lies
Offer me solutions offer me alternatives and I decline
It's the end of the world as we know it
(It's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it

haha yess. i love REM
I enjoy Set Your Goals' lyrics in the song Echoes.
A quick bullet: a tough one to dodge (no one ever does)
It cuts fast and deep (picks your bones clean)
And you just have to let it bleed
I know the pain, it's all to familiar
If I could sing words to help, you know I would
And it would end the pain
But you will have to let this make you stronger
Difficult to overcome
The name of a ghost still dancing on our tongues
So bittersweet (these memories)
I wish they could have taken me
Struggle through tough times
And destroy all your fears
Don’t let this win over you
Soon you will end the pain
And you will say that it did make you stronger
This is how you overcome
(these voices fade away as the memory did)
And we’ve all heard it sung
And we don't know what we got till it's gone
And then we want it back so much
Nobody ever warned you…
Breathe in, take in it deep
Cross your heart, it's yours for you to keep
Wishful: I guess I never was
And I will breathe in, take in it deep
Cross your heart, it's yours for you to keep
Wishful: I guess I never was
(And I will keep, pieces of you alive in me.)
I am looking up now, death can’t change us
I am looking up now, death can’t change us
I will, stand alone
I will, learn from this, I will
I will, mourn the loss and I will be stronger

"The Sense" - HOT WATER MUSIC
This is not a model
fit for any mold.
The twisted old and bitter tongues
are reckless just as they are cold.
Dwelling on the dying
is wet fingers to the flame.
And I cannot say that I believe
in everything that you propose to me.
I'd rather learn from children.
I'd rather see their world.
In all it's natural splendor,
and all it's harsh distress unknown.
Not what's old and jaded,
forgotten or ignored.
Or in the way of anything,
there to keep the flame from burning.
I read the writing on the wall, and all
I see is "Who has lost the sense?"
I read the writing on the wall, and all
I see is "Got to get it, to give."
All that I care to know is what you're wondering.
All that I care to see is what you're seeing.
I want to know what you know,
not the little things you'll learn to guard you
(All the little things we'll teach you).
I read the writing on the wall, and all
I see is, "Who has lost the sense?"
I read the writing on the wall, and all
I see is, "Got to get it, to give."

The Blood Brothers - Ambulance Vs. Ambulance (If you have not checked out Young Machetes yet...do so now..amazing album)
Ambulance X extracts several consultants
from the slow gumming death at the office orifice.
Ambulance Y imprisons the sigh of the recent amputee
and dumps her in the xylophone trees.
Ambulance X scours the tanning complex for repunzels
rotting in their skin cooking coffins.
Ambulance Y drops the body off at the door step.
Ambulance X pulls you out of the party
and rubs your freckles like a DJ to his records
but Ambulance Y teaches you the word goodbye
and cuts your hands to show you where you stand,
under the monolith of what is love and what is scam,
what is sun and what is tan.
The Ambulance Angels pull up to your doorstep
the sirens flash emergency,
"you'd better come quick."
The Ambulance Angels chisel a crack in your mouth,
and then they paint a landscape with your regret and shouts.
Roll tape and decode the moans,
ventilate the scandal from these locked up mouth holes.
You'll never see your wife
and children again so tell us what it was going through your head,
when you looked into their eyes
and said "no thanks i'll take the hooker instead"
You'll never see that office again
so when the nurse amputates both of your thighs
come a little bit closer to the mic
and tell us what you miss more your desk or the hungry sky.
The Ambulance Angels pull up to the graveyard,
and leave you there bubbling broken sonnets and shards.
The Ambulance Angels notify your next of kin
and show them the scrap book of your operation:
His head was a faucet leaking love, laughter and lies:
all his secret wishes, all his world famous sighs.
Before you remember, Oh yeah, before you give in,
just remember we're coming back for your children.

That is quite a small list, and personally i find Gatsbys lyrics to be ok...i'd substitute it for brand new or mewithoutyou. The Cure should be in there too lol...and i love the bright eyes...
The Calendar Hung Itself
Does he kiss your eyelids in the morning when you start to raise your head?
And does he sing to you incessantly from the space between your bed and wall?
Does he walk around all day at school with his feet inside your shoes?
Looking down every few steps to pretend he walks with you.
Does he know that place below your neck that is your favorite to be touched
and does he cry through broken sentences like I love you far too much?
Does he lay awake listening to your breath?
Worried that you smoke too many cigarettes.
Is he coughing now on a bathroom floor?
For every speck of tile there's a thousand more
you won't ever see but most hold inside yourself eternally
Well, I drug your ghost across the country and we plotted out my death.
In every city, memories would whisper: "Here is where you rest."
I was determined in Chicago but I dug my teeth into my knees
and I settled for a telephone and sang into your machine.
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
I kissed a girl with a broken jaw that her father gave to her.
She had eyes bright enough to burn me. They reminded me of yours.
In a story told she was a little girl in a red-rouge,
sun-bruised field and there were rows of ripe tomatoes where a secret was concealed.
And it rose like thunder, clapped under our hands.
And it stretched for centuries to a diary entry's end where I wrote,
You make me happy oh!! when skies are gray
You make me happy oh!! when skies are gray and gray and gray.
Well the clock's heart it hangs inside its open chest with its hands
stretched towards the calendar hanging itself but I will not weep for those dying days.
For all the ones who have left there are a few that stayed.
And they found me here and pulled me from the grass where I was laid.

IDLEWILD- "In Remote Part / Scottish Fiction"
In the beginning, there were answers
Then they came along and changed
All these questions and their answers seem to change
So I'll wait until I find the remote part of your heart
Nowhere else will let us choose a comfortable start
We stop in every passing place
To watch the world move faster than we do
Watch it pass with our eyes closed the way we usually choose to
So I'll wait until I find the remote part of your heart
When no where else will let us choose a comfortable start
And even if the breath between us smells of alcohol
Call it confusion in the best way possible
(SCOTTISH FICTION)
It isn't in the mirror, it isn't on the page
It's a red hearted vibration
Pushing through the walls of dark imagination
Finding no equation
There's a red road rage,
But it's not road rage
It's asylum seekers engulfed by a grudge
Scottish friction, Scottish fiction
It isn't in the castle, it isn't in the mist
It's a calling of the waters as they break to show
The new black death with reactors aglow
Do you think your security will keep you in purity
You will not shake us off

We all know the girls that I am talking about.
Well, they are timebombs, and they are ticking,
And the only question's when they'll blow up;
And, they'll blow up. We know that, without a doubt,
'Cause they're those girls,
Yeah, you know those girls...
That let their emotions get the best of them.
And I've contrived some sort of a plan
To help my fellow man:
LET'S GET emotional girls to all wear mood rings,
So we'll be tipped off to when they're ticked off,
'Cause we'll know just what they're thinking.
She's so pretty, but she doesn't always act that way.
Her mood's out swinging on the swingset almost every day.
She said to me that she's so happy it's depressing,
And, all I said was, "Someone get that girl a mood ring."
If it's drama you want, then, look no further.
They're like "The Real World" meets "Boy Meets World,"
Meets "Days of Our Lives,"
And it just kills me how they get away with murder.
They'll anger you, then, bat their eyes...
Those pretty eyes that watch you sympathize...
When it's black, it means watch your back,
Because you're probably
The last person in the world, right now,
She wants to see,
And, when it's blue, it means that
You should call her up immediately
And ask her out,
Because, she'll most likely agree.
And, when it's green, it simply means
That she is really stressed;
And, when it's clear, it means she's completely emotionless...
And that's alright, I must confess.
We all know the girls that I am talking about...
She liked you Wednesday, but, now it's Friday,
And she has to wash her hair.
And, it just figures that we'll never figure them out.
First, she's Jekyll, then, she's Hyde...
At least she makes a lovely pair.
Mood ring, oh, mood ring,
Oh, tell me, will you bring
The key to unlock this mystery
Of girls and their emotions?
Play it back in slow motion,
So I may understand the complex infrastructure
Known as the female mind...
A little more Relient K, to start with.

All the bands I have seen listed with good lyrics are excellent choices.
I would add Northstar to the list as well.
Nice one, Northstar have excellent lyrics

"Your grand-dad left home for the circus.
He was young, just like me,
With hope to explore.
He married a girl in Virginia.
She could swing the trapeze,
They could sleep on the floor.
Your mother was born in December,
On the one sunny day that winter gave up,
With warm summer eyes
That flickered like fireflies...
And she stared at the world.
So, why do you leave these stories unfinished,
My Cheshire-cat doorstop with tears in your eyes?
Why do you look when you've already found it?
What did you find that would leave you walking by?
She was raised in a New England village,
Then, she moved to L.A., with her firefly-stare;
And, you loved Sunset Strip when it sparkled...
You grew up and you sparkled, but why don't you care?
Why do you leave these stories unfinished,
My Cheshire-cat doorstop, with tears in your eyes?
Why do you look when you've already found me?
What did you find that would leave you walking by?
And, these nights, I get high just from breathing.
When I lie here with you, I'm sure that I'm real,
Like that firework over the freeway...
I could stay here all day, but that's not how you feel.
So, why do you leave these questions unanswered?
The circus awaits, and you're already gone.
My Cheshire-cat doorstop, with fear in your smile,
What makes it so easy for you to be walking by?
What did I do that you can't seem to want me?
And why do we lie here and whisper goodbyes?
Where can I go that your pictures won't haunt me?
What makes it so easy for you to be walking by?"

"In a romantic fashion,
I will experiment with my fears,
Right before her eyes.
And, every smile that's unveiled
Will be soaked, in my nervous charm.
And, then I'll say,
"Is everything alright?
There's been a few things I've been meaning
To let go of tonight,"
And, she will say,
"Everyhing's just fine,
So, you can put an end
To your worrying mind."
And, then, our lips will collide.
The August sky will, then, bare witness
To a brand new chapter with torn-up pages.
When the planets align,
I can feel the gates opening to my courage,
As I proceed to run my fingers through her hair
And forget everyone who's jaded,
'Cause they don't matter, and I don't care.
In a confident fashion,
I will admit my deepest and darkest to her.
And, every gaze across the table
Will send my unsuspecting body into shock.
And, then I'll say,
"Would you like to go inside,
And forget the world, and the rules
By which we are to abide?"
And, she will say,
"There's nothing I want more,"
As we step into the room,
Turn off the lights and close the door.
The August sky will, then, bare witness
To a brand new chapter with torn-up pages.
When the planets align,
I can feel the gates opening to my courage,
As I proceed to run my fingers through her hair
And forget everyone who's jaded,
'Cause they don't matter, and I don't care.
Brash, and hopeful that my luck will not perish tonight;
And, when the overcast tries to kill me,
It's your slow-motion rain that falls, warm,
On my neck that keeps me alive.
Consider this song a testament
Of my devotion to your sacharrine scent,
And, to be completely honest,
You're not like all the rest."

(Sorry about all the semi-cheesy "lovey-dovey" shit... The past couple of days have been "those kind of days" for me, and these are the things that stick out for me right now... I'm sure within the next day or so, this will all turn to bitterness and anger, and we'll really start to have some fun.)

"How's It going to be" Third Eye Blind
I'm only pretty sure that I can't take anymore
before you take a swing
I wonder , what are we fighting for when I say out loud
I want to get out of this
I wonder, is there anything I'm going to miss
I wonder,
How's it going to be when you don't know me
How's it gong to be when you're sure I'm not there
How's it going to be when there is no one there to talk to
between you and me 'cause I don't care
Hows it going to be
Hows it going to be
Where we used to laugh there's a shouting match
Sharp as a thumbnail scratch, a silence I can't ignore
Like the hammock by the doorways we spent time in
Swings empty,
I don't see lightening like last fall
When it was always, about to hit me
I wonder,
How's it going to be when it goes down
How's it going to be when your not around
How's it going to be when you found out there was nothing,
between you and me, cause I don't care
How's it going to be
How's it going to be when you don't know me anymore
How's it going to be
I want to get myself back in again
The soft dive of oblivion
I want to taste the salt of your skin
The soft dive of oblivion, oblivion
How's it going to be when you don't know me anymore
How's it going to be
How's it going to be
How's it going to be

Kill The Music - Every time i die
Stutter step to the beat of a disparaged lover.
Dumb and pulsing we've become.
The bedroom door is an old black lung.
It's arrhythmic.
Uninviting and pliable.
With the noble irreverence of shrapnel she came for us.
Bore into our heads and found thoughtlessness.
Never minded the faithless courage of shame or the bravery of oblivion.
I'm on her mind, I'm never coming back.
If two timing is what it takes, then we both know one take is all we need
We're not equipped to stay, unloved,
But its all we've got and we're not at all alright.
Come on baby and give me the creeps.
Either you and I or both must go.
Either you and I or both must go.
I'm on her mind I'm never coming back.
If two timing is what it takes then we both know one take is all we need
We're not equipped to stay, unloved,
But its all we've got and we're not at all alright.
Theres no difference between being holy and alone.
That's why I'm eagerly fleeing the scene.
Lead footed.
Baby return the favor and leave somebody you love.
If they come back they're drunk and they're lonely.
We all get lonely.
God forbid we indulge when at sea.
Just the tempest, the temptress and me.
Naturally bored thriller.
Nobody knows the trouble I've been or the exacting improvement of sin.
I'm handling myself over.
I’m turning myself in.
War has no glory like a woman ignored.
So here's to the empires polluted with dead.
And the truckers wives who erected them.
I know the strippers real name.
Stop me if I'm wrong.
i couldn't decide which song to post, they are all so well written

They're tearing up streets again.
They're building a new hotel.
The Mayor's out killing kids,
To keep taxes down.
Me and my anger sit,
Folding a paper bird,
Letting the curtains turn to beating wings.
Wish I had a socket-set,
To dismantle this morning,
And just one pair of clean socks
And a photo of you.
When you get off work tonight,
Meet me at the construction site,
And we'll write some notes to tape
To the heavy machines,
Like, "We hope they treat you well,
Hope you don't work too hard.
We hope you get to be happy sometimes."
Bring your swiss-army knife
And a bottle of something,
And I'll bring some spraypaint,
And a new deck of cards.
Hey, I found the safest place
To keep all our tenderness,
Keep all those bad ideas,
Keep all our hope.
It's here, in the smallest bones:
The feet and the inner-ear...
It's such an enormous thing to walk and to listen.
I'd like to fall asleep
To the beat of you breathing,
In a room near a truck-stop
On a highway somewhere.
You are a radio.
You are an open door.
I am a faulty string
Of blue Christmas lights.
You swim through frequencies.
You let that stranger in,
As I am blinking off and on,
And off again.
We've got a lot of time,
Or maybe we don't...
But, I'd like to think so,
So, let me pretend.
These are my favorite chords.
I know you like them, too.
When I get a new guitar,
You can have this one,
And sing me a lullaby,
Sing me the alphabet,
Sing me a story I haven't heard yet.

PISTOL - Dustin Kensrue
I love how you curse when I wake you up
And sweetly demand that I fill your cup.
I follow your cool gun powder glare
Honey, you lay me bear
You're the girl of my dreams
And a pistol it seems, but you shoot me straight and true
Time to lay down my bets,
Oh, I put all my money on you.
When I'm in the dark, girl, you bring me to light.
It seems like you're almost always right.
So keep boxing my ears when I sew them shut.
Baby, you sure are tough.
You're the girl of my dreams
And a pistol it seems, but you shoot me straight and true
Time to lay down my fears,
Honey, I feel so safe around you.
To the man who taught me anything,
He said "a hard-headed woman is what I need"
To help me to always do my best.
Baby, my life is blessed.
You're the girl of my dreams
Darling please wear this ring
You're an angel through and through
Time to lay down my life,
Honey, I'd do it gladly for you.
Time to lay down my life,
Honey, I'd do it gladly for you.

Sic Transit Gloria... Glory Fades.
"Keep the noise low."
She doesn't wanna blow it.
Shaking head to toe,
While your left hand does the "show me around."
Quickens your heartbeat...
It beats me straight into the ground.
You don't recover from a night like this:
A victim, still lying in bed,
Completely motionless.
A hand moves in the dark to her zipper...
Hear a boy, bracing tight against sheets,
Barely whisper, "This... is... so... messed... up."
Upon arrival, the guests had all stared.
Dripping wet and clearly depressed,
He headed straight for the stairs,
No longer cool, but, a boy in a stitch,
Unprepared for a life full of lies and failing relationships.
UP THE STAIRS, THE STATION WHERE
THE ACT BECOMES THE ART OF GROWING UP.
He keeps his hands low.
He doesn't wanna blow it.
He's wet from head to toe,
And his eyes give her the up and the down.
His stomach turns, and he thinks of throwing up,
But the body on the bed beckons forward,
And he starts growing up.
THE FEVER! THE FOCUS!
The reasons that I had to believe
You weren't too hard to sell.
DIE YOUNG AND SAVE YOURSELF.
The tickle. The taste of.
It used to be the reason I breathed,
But, now it's choking me up.
DIE YOUNG AND SAVE YOURSELF.
She hits the lights.
This doesn't seem quite fair.
Despite everything he learned from his friends,
He doesn't feel so prepared.
She's breathing quiet and smooth...
He's gasping... for... air.
"This is the first and last time," he says.
She fakes a smile, and presses her hips into his.
He keeps his hands pinned down at his sides.
He's holding back from telling her
Exactly what he really feels... like...
He is the lamb, she is the slaughter.
She's moving way too fast,
And all he wanted was to hold her.
Nothing that he tells her is really having an effect.
He whispers that he loves her,
But she's probably only looking for...
"Up the stairs," the station where
The act becomes the art of growing up.
So much more than he could ever give:
A life free of lies and a meaningful relationship.
He keeps his hands pinned down to his side.
He waits for it to end,
And for the aching in his gut to subside.

Now, it's more like showbiz.
I wake up in the night,
And I don't know where the bathroom is.
And, I don't know what town I'm in,
Or what sky I am under,
And I wake up in the darkness and I
Don't have the will, anymore, to wonder.
Everyone has a skeleton,
And a closet to keep it in,
And you're mine.
Every song has a "you,"
A "you" that the singer sings to,
And you're it, this time.
Baby, you're it this time.
When I need to wipe my face,
I use the back of my hand,
And I like to take up space,
Just because I can.
And, I use my dress
To wipe up my drink.
I care, less and less,
What people think.
And, you are so lame.
You always disappoint me.
It's kind of like our running joke,
But, it's really not funny.
And, I just want you
To live up to the image of you I created.
I see you and I'm so unsatisfied.
I see you and I dilate.
So, I'll walk the plank,
And I'll jump with a smile.
If I'm gonna go down,
I'm gonna do it with style.
And, you won't see me surrender.
You won't hear me confess,
'Cause you've left me with nothing,
But, I've worked with less.
I learn every room long enough
To make it to the door,
And, then, hear it click shut behind me.
Every key works differently.
I forget, everytime,
And, forgetting defines me.
That's what defines me.
When I say "you sucked my brain out,"
The English translation is:
"I am in love with you,
And it is no fun."
But, I don't use words like "love,"
'Cause words like that don't matter;
But, don't look so offended.
You know, you should be flattered.
And, I wake up in the night in some big, hotel bed,
And my hands grope for the light,
And my hands grope for my head.
The world is my oyster;
The road is my home,
And I know that I'm better off alone."

Carpal Tunnel of Love- Fall Out Boy
my favorite parts are bolded.
anybody but me excited about this?
We take sour sips
From life's lush lips
We shake shake shake the hips
In relationships
Stop by this disaster town
You'll put your eyes to the sun and say "I know"
You're only blinding to keep back what the clouds are hiding
And we might have started singing just a little soon
We're throwing the stones in a glass room.
Whoa ah oh it's a miserable story
Whoa ah oh far from the genuine becoming
We keep the beat,
With your blistered feet
We bullet the words at the mockingbirds, singing
Slept through the weekend
And dream
Sinking with the melody of the kiss of eternity
Your pulse comes from a pharmacist, saying "how you been"?
We might of said good byes just a little soon
(Somehow this disaster town)
Our beliefs of kissing beats over this room
Whoa ah oh it's a miserable story
Whoa ah oh far from the genuine becoming
Whoa ah oh it's a miserable story
Whoa ah oh far from the genuine becoming
It was ice cream headaches and sweet avalanche
When the pearls in our shells came out to dance
You call me a bad tipper of the cradle
But I’m just tired yawns for fawns on hunter’s lawns
We’re the has-beens of husbands
Sharpening the knives of young wives
Think you could find time call me when you get home?
Take your self apart find yourself with love.

All I ever wanted to be was
A wooly muffler, on your naked neck;
Double-wrap me when it's cold.
But, you pulled a little tight, just now,
And I'm afraid I feel a chokehold c-c-c-coming on.
All I ever thought we might come to was
Second dates and flirting eyebrows;
Or, maybe even psychic friends,
And we could share a secret language,
But, everyone around us would know...
Everyone watching would know:
This is not a walk with walking wounded.
Here's the ball, here's the pole.
Where's the tether, where's the tether?
Hands can grow together,
If you're not careful, or grateful, or whatever,
And I never cared much-too-much to begin with.
I will not take your possibilities under my care.
I will not see you on the bus.
You want me to hold your hand?
It's a courtship I can't stand,
And, here, I thought you were crying
Because you were happy...
But, no no no...
Friends will turn against you.
People disappoint you every time,
So, if you've got greatness in you,
Would you do us all a favor
And keep it to yourself?
Keep it. Keep it to yourself.
A labored expat fantasy:
Quit your job and move away with me.
Oh, what bliss it would be to pretend we never met.
I'm elated now.

Don’t Drink Water, Fish Have Sex In It
From broken hearts to pounding veins
Hear these words through my speakers
Take my heart and tear it in two.
Let the bass take your breath away.
Feel the beat of the music
And the drip of our sweat as we sing our lives.
Rock your hips for lip’s don’t lie.
Let the drums shake your body.
Keep our music as memories
As the good times you had
Listen as we tell our secrets.
Through our weeping singer, listen to us.
As our show begins keep in touch with reality and dreams
Try to remember the difference - though we are tempting
The rest of the band sends their regards.
Hope for heaven, not hell.
To many times silly girls waste their lives
Trying to fit into the scene
To those silly girls, save the scene and stop going to our shows.

a little more mewithoutYou love
A Glass Can Only Spill What it Contains
a cat came drifting onto my porch from the outside cold
and with eyes closed, drinking warm milk from my bowl,
thought:
"nobody hears me!(nobody hears me)
I crept in so soft!
and nobody sees me!(nobody sees me)
as I watched six steps off."
like the peacocks wandering the walkways of the zoo
who have twice the autonomy the giraffes and the tigers do,
saying:
"no one can stop me,(no one can stop me)
no one clips my claws!
now everyone watch me(everyone watch me)
scale these outside walls!"
you took the puous and profane,
turned around the praise and blame,
said "a glass can only spill what it contains"
To the perpetually plain and the incurably inane
a glass can only spill what it contains
what new mystery is this?
what blessed backwardness??
the Immeasurable One is held and does not resist!
struck by wicked words and foolish fists of senseless men
the Almighty One does not defend!
I was halfway listening to what she thinks she knows
We're like children dressing in our parents' clothes, saying:
"Nobody knows me,(nobody knows me)
no one knows my name,
No, nobody knows me,(nobody knows me)
nobody knows me..."
I half-heartedly explained
but gave up peacefully ashamed
as a glass can only spill what it contains
we went to Portugal and Spain
and in her mind the entire time it rained!
a glass can only spill what it contains
what new mystery is this? in overflowing emptiness
the Invisible is seen among the shadows and the mist,
before my doubting eyes the Infinite appears in time-
the Unquestionable is questioned but makes no reply!
what new mystery is this?!
"my Rabbi!"
my lips betray with a kiss
what new mystery is this?

one of my favorite songs of all time.
still gives me chills everytime i hear it.
Iris- The Goo Goo Dolls
And I'd give up forever to touch you
'Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
'Cause sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
And you bleed just to know you're alive
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am

I had a dream I was employed
At my old position,
As your second string.
It cut me down, to the quick.
It hurt so badly.
Who's to say "Is it possible?"
It felt like it was real.
There was no God I could believe in.
You've got terrible vision if you don't see
That I'm in love with you,
And how that means everything.
I had a dream that you were gone.
It was a heart condition,
Like I'd never known what my name was.
You couldn't see me.
You've got terrible vision if you don't see
That I'm in love with you,
And how that means everything.
If I had known that you could leave,
I would have stolen myself out.
As it is, I'm so in love.
There is no God...
It was a dream, that's all.
You've got to wake me up, now.
You've got terrible vision if you don't see
That I'm in love with you,
And how that means everything.
Uh huh.
Yeah.

favorite lyrical part of any song ever:
so put away your fear
a morning star will soon appear
and bring an end
to this dark night
and we must run for to meet the light
watered by the blood of martyrs
blessed and blind as sons and daughters
sleep with one eye open
and live with both eyes shut
so lets find the place where sight begins
and see the things that we saw when our
eyes were bright and wet against the light
thrice - flags of dawn
