Oh my God, FUCK the Venetia Fair. they are so... i don't know how to describe it, but they seem like they're just acting on stage. So fake. "Oh my God, look at how crazy and circusy we are!!!"

I might just be scarred by the show I saw them at (worst night of my life, ever, so many horrible bands), but damn. They seemed so... contrived.

Pretty sure you nailed it when you said "contrived". I watched a video after reading your post. Wow. No wonder I haven't been able to get into anything that is new. It's because of bands like that.

We went to see La Dispute. There were five other bands playing. TVF was one of them, and this was one of the other ones (click at your own risk) http://www.myspace.com/boheraldmusic

I was sufficiently scarred for life by this show.

Really? Cause I feel like they're just trying to be themselves and do something new. Music these days is all the same and boring, at least The Venetia Fair is stirring things up and making music interesting and fun again!

Well, I'm trying to get into this thing where I don't rip on people for the music they like, so I'm definitely not going to sit here and bash a band that you clearly like. I guess I'll just state that it must not be my thing. For real, man. Like whatever you want to like and don't let my opinion affect the way you enjoy music.

i have been listening to this amazing new band called ghost in the addict. it's a one-man music project that will blow your mind when you listen to it and realize that it's one person playing all the instruments and singing. john spinelli is a genius. ghost in the addict's first album "wishblister" just came out. it was released independently on his own label, perfuckt records.

Music is an experience, a harmonious accord encompassing the entire body, each wave of sound rolling against our corporeal core as if we are accrual, floating atop the ocean. Burn Down the Charade, an indie space-rock double act from Phoenix, AZ is comprised of Sean Herring and Daniel Smith. Their sound is so rich, textured and thick it is nearly tactile. Fresh from the release of their first album Revelations & Revolutions, which represents three years of collaboration and growth. From their beginnings with the metal influenced guitar riffs and drilling drums melded with the heady, dream like choruses of No Road Home, phasing into the melodious intensity of the vocals in Believe What you Know Burn Down the Charade is a band marked by a maturation and resonance unlike any other ensemble.

Their unique sound notwithstanding Burn Down the Charade represents a philosophy behind the music, a message, and reminder that music represents us all, that the songs and melodies are a part of our souls, that music is an auditory expression of our emotions. Along the journeys and tribulations of life, Sean and Daniel have captured the essence of the struggle, of loss in love of joy in companionship and triumph. The tunes challenge and coexist with the lyrics to create a web of synapses thickening the meanings and emotions behind the songs. As is typified in Will you Lead?, a haunting plea to those we love to embrace what is important in this world which ebbs against the sinuous resonance, and the nostalgia of Brilliant Kids a standard for the anti-hero who’s lyrics dance atop the marching melody.

Though Burn Down the Charade has been making music for the past three years, it is in the release of their first album, in April 2010 that they have begun to promote their music. As they have moved through the creative process, they have maintained online following, choosing sites like myspace.com/burndownthecharade to promote and release their music. As of July 2010, they have been visited 600,000 times and are friends with nearly 100,000 people. Working in conjunction with Brian Herring they have recently released a viral four part video interview giving in-depth history and insight into the new album Revelations & Revolutions.

Beyond the music and message of Burn Down the Charade are the creators, Sean Herring and Daniel Smith two childhood friends who throughout the distances, trials and tribulations have maintained not only a friendship but striking musical collaboration. What is most surprising is that the musicians themselves do the entire musical recording personally. From their humble beginnings in Daniel’s one bedroom apartment, nicknamed “The Cave,” Sean and Daniel maintain total creative control and are the sole influences and creators of their sound. It is then unsurprising that Burn Down the Charade represents such a unique and personal sound that continues to grow and mature as its creators do.

If you're into ska, you should totes check out Stacked Like Pancakes, and up-and-coming ska/rock band from Baltimore, MD.
They're almost done recording their debut album with eleven original songs, plus a bonus track - an arrangement of one of their most popular songs for the Towson University Percussion Ensemble!

I'm telling you... give them a few minutes of your attention if you're into the ska scene. You will like them. And stick around because the stuff that they have on their myspace is crap basement recordings. Check out the behind-the-scenes footage they've been putting together of the recording process! Here's the latest video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeRDBEI2pLk

The album will be legit. ;]

here is something a bit different. this band does not care if you think they are cute, they do not straight iron their hair, or try to sound like anyone ....at all. but i'd say if you like FUGAZI / MOGWAI / RADIOHEAD / AT THE DRIVE IN / PINK FLOYD / CONVERGE this could be up your alley. yeah, i know.... that's a variety if i'd say so. please check it out!
