nothing better at all.
i only really get to experience them if i go out of state to play one though.
kids in southern new jersey are all kinda stuck on the "10 bucks for a show with the same bands every night" thing.

My friend had Defiance, Ohio play in his house. There was also a vegan potluck to accompany. <333
But really, here in Harrisonbored all there is is free basement shows. It's sooo much better that way. Not having a venue is fucking sweet.

anyway, the show i went to a couple nights ago was hella sweet. it was bullet train to vegas and a local. I don't know if anyone here likes them or listens to them or anything but they're like my favorite live band. I've seen them 3x in the past year. Anyway, they love the hell out of Springfield so they come through everytime they tour. If anyone's interested, PM me. They sound like ATDI meets the Blood Brothers (kinda).
I got there early, talked to the band for awhile. They called one of my roommates and talked shit on him for not coming. The reason for this is, i have a roommate who is the biggest poseur on the planet. He tells everyone he loves all these bands that he never listens to. Whenever I refer to the kid that only listens to mopey indie, that's him. Anyway, I got him "into" BTTV last year. He in turn went back to where we grew up and told all these kids how much he loves the band. He's one of those kids who refuses to buy albums of bands he likes if he can just burn them, even though he's rich and spends like over a hundred bucks on Magic The Gathering and WoW the card game.
I could rant about him forever, but my point is: he likes to brag about how he goes to shows and how he's so into music but it's just an act. He's the kinda kid who wears the band t-shirt he just bought for the entire week after the show just so he can bump into people and say "oh yeah, like my shirt? i got it at a show last week. yeah i go to shows. i'm cool"
Then people started geting drunk. Then they started playing. it was sweet.
BTTV likes people jumping up on stage anyway, so seeing them in a house is great. I like house shows here better than venues anyway because everyone that shows up is actually there for the music and not to impress people, and they're all nice people.
i get to go to another one tonight. Mustangs and Madras. (think Fugazi/Braid with a sax player)

ahh yes house gigs are the best nothin like some booze and music and the occasional weed here and there. although the only good backyard shows ive been to were when ska bands were playing.
its a nice:thumbup:

I wish house shows I've been to were like that. I saw La Quiete and Phoenix Bodies in a basement and half the time people sat outside and drank. I was so surprised.

Your roommate is a douchebag and BTTV is amazing. That album is gold.

and to answer your question, i prefer a basement show or a garage show to a house show.

i think all PB shows are like that. ive been to a couple basement shows with them, and pretty much most people sat outside and drank. its pretty lame. but then again, none were with la quiete, which is even more crazy.
