is anyone else sick of bands making re-releases and deluxe versions?
sure a dvd and 2 new tracks are nice
but a new record would be better

Most die hard fans buy the CD the first week of an albums initial release. It's unfair that people have to pay an extra $20 for another CD with the exact same content with the exception of one or two new or remixed tracks.

I'm only sick of them when they add nothing new, or just bullshit stuff no one cares about.

sometimes the re release comes with a damn fine extra song, like the new emery re-release... but one song doesn't justify the whole thing anyway

yeah, its mostly the labels fault though, they are usually the ones responsible for a re release, a band just kinda has to go with it.
I bought Commit this to Memory twice. I wanted the dvd that bad

Fucking sick of them.
I have never bought a re-released version of a CD I already have, and I never plan on it.

They're only annoying if all they do is add some shitty demos to the end of the album. If there's a DVD that comes with the re-release, I don't mind at all.

all the bonus stuff is cool..but i have the first record..i dont wanna go out and buy it again for a bunch of extra stuff

I almost bought the TBS rerelease of Tell All Your Friends that came out like a year or two ago that had something with it, I can't remember if it was a DVD or bonus tracks or what...but I didn't. The original TBS I bought was supposed to be an enhanced CD with live videos on it but it didn't have anything enhanced on it at all which pissed me the fuck off.
I did however buy the rerelease of Say Anything's "...Is a Real Boy", simply because "...Was a Real Boy" was pretty much an EP and it was only $9.99...so I had an extra copy of a great album and an EP with all new stuff as well.

yup. how about panic at the disco coming out with that special limited edition box set rerelease?
thats ridiculous, they're scared to put something new out 'cause it's going to be terrible.

I think that only reason why bands should rerelease albums is if has gone out of print, and their high demand for the album.
But, a Panic! rerelease?!? Thats rediculous.

if they write a new song and its good enough for that, release it online and start recording a new album...that new song can be thier first single and maybe if they re-record it for the album itll be even better...re-releasing an album for one new song is not worth it to anyone to buy it again...everyone will just dl it anyway
in my eyes its just a sick way of the record company to make a few more bucks of the same thing w/o putting any more effort in

The only re-release I ever bought was Say Anything, because I wanted that bonus disc. Fuck every other re-release.

i've never bought one but i'm just sick of seeing them advertised. the covers always look exactly the same, except all of the colors are inverted.
anyways, i just download the extra songs

this is why in some cases piracy really isnt that wrong.

haha yeah. sick of seeing cds i bought a month ago with all these special features. then record labels complain about piracy. get a clue...

why does tooth and nail have to re-release all of their cds....i mean, they just put the extra two songs on itunes or even be nice to fans and put it up on purevolume.

Of course. The bonus stuff is cool but come on. Not buying the same record twice.

my favourite band re-released all their albums this year, with bonus tracks & all. just awesome. but i recon it's only good when bands from way back do it, to increase the sound quality of the albums & that sort of thing. otherwise it's a bit of a waste of time

i have alot of respect for the band, but chris carabba's re-relaese of swiss army romance was absolutely horrible. of course they did it to get it out on vagrant after leaving drive-thru but they added two songs which i wish to never hear again. better off just leaving it as it was on the original cd. it was almost as if he was told to do it the day before. ugh. love you chris... see you friday
The only band allowed to have a re-release is Converge

why can't the people who buy the albums when they come out - the original fans - get all the cool stuff?

It depends. Some re-releases are awesome, and others are worthless. If they offer more than just a demo and an unreleased song, I'll probably get it.
