Sum 41 (http://www.absolutepunk.net/sum41) have entered the studio today to record their follow up to Chuck. Expect their yet to be titled album out in the Spring or Summer of 2007. Have a look at the band's recap of the first day in from their Island Records journal.
Here we go Goons - DAY TWO. Here's a recap of day one: we arrived at the studio, set up the drums, looked at them for a while, hit them, moved them, and then moved them again. Then, we sent the runner to get some booze and got moderately to extremely drunk. Very professional indeed! We have three tracks to do today. Or at least, there are three tracks we'd like to do. Finding time to get them done between our daily regimen of breakfast, luch, drinks, beers, aperitifs, off-track gambling, nostalgic storytime, naptime, playtime and bedtime, will be a feat unto itself. Let's hope all goes well. Stevo.

I'm looking forward to this. All Killer No Filler is probably my first favorite CD back when I was like 7 years old, so I'm curious to see how it's going to sound since apparently with this album they're going back in the All Killer No Filler direction.

What?

hes prob laughing at the fact that it puts your age at 13. no worries though. catchy music is catchy music, and the stuff off that album was pretty catchy. though played to death haha

Haha I'm the same even tho the oldies are classics their last album is the most listenable for me. And I think all killer no filler is too I guess... childish? Idontknow. Except does this look infected was a damn solid 3rd album by them.

After the seriousness of Chuck and Brown Sound leaving the band because we no longer the humorous band that they were in the beginning, I have sorta lost interest in the boys of Sum 41.

And that's saying a lot since All Killer No Filler was the first punk/pop punk cd that I loved.

I enjoy the fact that, afer brownsound left the band, deryk put out what is probably the biggest "Fuck You" messege I have ever seen a band give about a departing member, going as far as saying that all the riffs and everything were written and played by him, only to release a statement a few weeks later saying that with the loss of brown they are now able to make the music that they want to, harkening it back to the style of all kill and half hour of power. Its kinda like he trying to make 1 and 1 add up to Nevada.

It is nice to see that they are using their time in the studio well...I guess I know why I HAVE to buy this album instead of pirate it or else they wont make enough money to be able to waste an entire day in the studio setting up the drums and looking at them.

I lost interest because Chuck came out so bland. It sounded good the first 3 listens, then I realized Chuck seemed like a (bad) extention to Infected. Now with Dave gone, I've really lost interest in the band, but still have a soft spot for every album and DVD they've released before Chuck.

Music has changed drastically since All killer and no filler. I don't think they'll go back to that kind of style. I didn't really like Chuck, I found it kind of bland after a few listens. I'm happy to see they're going back into the studio. But honestly, I haven't even thought about SUM 41 in about a year.

Chuck had the most Metal influences and Metal sound. I loved it and thought it was pretty ballsy for them not to put out a radio friendly cd (besides "Some Say"). I'm going to miss brownsound.
