Miami's Pata Shot To Death

University of Miami defensive tackle Bryan Pata was shot and killed Tuesday night at an apartment complex in Miami. Pata, a senior, is from Miami. Police had no other details.

Let's see the asshole Thug U comments come into this thread.

R.I.P. buddy...this is just awful. I'm speechless.

very sad to hear...

the number of deaths/shootings related to college players seems higher in my mind recently. Dusquense, USC's starting point guard, there are a few others I could list...it's just sad to see.

University of Miami defensive tackle Bryan Pata was shot and killed Tuesday night, shortly after leaving the practice field, according to a university official with knowledge of the situation.

The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because a formal announcement still was being prepared by the university, had no knowledge of the circumstances surrounding Pata's death.

Miami-Dade police refused to release specific information about what happened.

Pata, a 6-foot-4, 272-pound senior, is from Miami.

It is terrible...based on that article above someone had it out for him...and earlier this year someone attacked two UM players (Merriweather/Cooper). I wonder if this is the same guy..

I've always hated the Thug U commecnts and such, especially now. Even though they aren't winning as much as they use to, and other then that brawl with FIU Lary Coker has cleaned up the program.

My personal reason for not liking Miami is when I was little and lived in Florida, hurricanes scared the shit out of me so I started to dislike them because of their mascot.

Sucks that it happened at school with so much bad history of players and off field problems. People will instantly jump to conclusions before the whole story is heard.

Yes. Obviously someone knew those two players were leaving early that one morning they shot at them...and this person knew he was leaving practice. I'm not saying it is true, but it could be.

The thing that makes me believe it isn't that is because Merriweather was a character problem to begin with...as we saw within the brawl as well by his actions.

Pata doesn't seem to fit that pattern, from what I understand. I wouldn't be suprised to hear Merriweather attached with shady dealings...but Pata on the other hand.

No you just hate the program and we already know this based on your hating on Miami during the FIU brawl thread. Why is it so far fetched to assume this? Do you know everything? No you don't. Stick to your own teams sports and shut the fuck up already. Can you please get a permanent ban?

there are acts of violence against 3 young football players at an urban campus, and your first thought is that they are connected? seriously it sucks that this happens, and ive never said anything negative about the program as a whole, but how someone would come to that conclusion is absolutely baffling.

too much CSI or Law and Order for you.

What should my first thought be? Should it be that it is 'thug U' like everyone else is thinking? These guys are football players. They do everything together. It is something to consider, is it not? I don't understand why you always have to be such a dick about everything.

And for the record, I don't watch CSI or Law and Order .

Pata was a hell of a player, and def. was going to the NFL, this is a damm shame, i am a big fan of miami football, and it is a shame to see all of this happening this year, rip to him and prayers to his family...i can def. see a connection with the brawl, or even with the altercation earlier with meriweather and cooper...

It is still something to consider...I don't see how it is not. I'm trying to make conversatoin and think of the possible things that could have happened...which we don't know why this happened.

This may not have anything to do with the University of football team itself, but Miami needs to get its stuff together. Way too much crap has happend this year.
