All I have to say is if Robert Gates steps into Rumsfields role we are getting a true leader, and good man. He is a very nice man and well respected man and I would be thrilled to see him take Rumsfields spot.

This is a man who worked himself up from the bottom to the top and that alone is impressive. I'm so excited about this.

i just hope it isn't lieberman...please don't make it lieberman. i know, that sounds like conspiracy theory bs, but i'm so used to horrible decisions happening all the time in politics that even though I know it won't happen, I always have irrational feelings that rumsfeld quit, so lieberman could take his place and a new republican get appointed to lieberman's spot equaling a republican majority with less moderates.

i know i'm wrong, i'm just throwing it out there.

yeah...but it's already not the case...for two reasons. They already named Gates (I believe)...and the runner-up was a Democrat by a significant margin. Even in a re-vote the democratic guy would crush the Republican again
