Glad to see I wasn't the only one who thought Fewer Moving Parts was the best ep of the year.

The only place you lost me was with giving Punchline worst album of the year. I mean come on... Punchline?!?!?! Not to mention Cute Is What We Aim For not even making that list.
I am going to have to say that these guys (aside from Sherwood) are the hardest working band out there. They promote their asses off and put on one hell of a live show. IMO this album was the next logical step for them and fits in nicely with their body of work.

I think Punchline's music is absolutely terrible...and that has nothing to do with how hard they work or how nice of guys they are.

Good list Scott, although, I was surprised how high Dead Poetic is on that list. Maybe I do need to pick that CD up.

Punchline is your worst album of the year? Damn, that's lame.
I will say this though, you have one of the most vast lists I've seen. Lots of good, some bad and some shit I haven't heard. Word up, though. I like it.

punchline is definitely not the worst of the year (for me, obviously)
and the fifa series will never be as good as PES (specially PES6) :D you make that switch in your list and that would be my perfect top3 games in 2006 ;-)

Billy Talent gets honorable mention, but you think Punchline's music is absolutely terrible?
You're obviously not against the genre... i have to say, I don't get your take on this one at all. I think you have a very solid top 30 list there, and I can completely understand leaving Punchline off altogether - maybe even labelling their latest album a slight disappointment... but to have it as your worst album of the year?
Christ - they are one of the tightest, most talented bands in the pop-punk genre right now... even if they don't appeal to you, how can you HATE them?
Again - not saying the album was great, but it wasn't the worst album of the year in anyone's mind except yours - which makes zero sense considering some of your other favorites... and a lot of people think it's pretty damn good.
Anyways - it's your opinion I guess... it's just an odd, sort of ironic one.

I'm not the only one who hates Punchline. In fact, almost all the people I play the band to agree with me...actually I've never found anybody who likes punchline. at all. People on the east coast tend to love that band more than the west coast, for some reason. It's incredibly basic, boring, and out of tune pop-punk with no heart or originality. So there's my opinion. And yes, I hate their music. They're not "tight" - they're sloppy. My opinion, my list. You should look up the definition of the word irony.

Sloppy HOW exactly? Have you ever seen them perform live? They have one of the tightest sounding shows of any pop-punk band I've ever seen... and I've seen them 4 or 5 times now over the last 4 years or so.
It's one thing to have an opinion - but when you base it off facts that simply aren't true, you just make yourself look silly.
Out of tune? Somehow I doubt it - they aren't the London symphony orchestra, granted - but c'mon, there are enough tools out there to make sure a band isn't out of tune even if they tried to be. You're reaching here.
Basic? Sure - they are what they are. Never argued that.
Boring? Matter of opinion I suppose. The point isn't whether or not they're the best band, but more, how you can possibly rate them the WORST band when there is a bunch of shit out there which is undoubtedly worse in both our opinions. Seems like you have some sort of axe to grind here.
And lastly - no heart or originality? They write their own songs... what more do you want? I tend to think their songs are very personal, and therefore original by default. Maybe their music doesn't relate to you or something - but it seems to me there's more to this story than you're letting on.
As already mentioned - you like the genre, at least a moderate amount - how you can badmouth a band like punchline and then praise some of the other bands in the same type of music is just beyond me.
It's completely different to leave a band off the list, than to put their album as the absolute worst when it sounds very similar to shit you have made a point to praise.
Listen to whatever you want - just don't expect to be taken very seriously with a "worst of" list contrasting with your "best of" so poorly.

I'm done with you. Punchline sucks. The fact is that they still manage to be vocally poor WITH all the tools that are out there to make sure they aren't. And that's just sad.
The category of "worst albums" is relative to the scene. I don't listen to stuff like Nickelback, so how could I call it the worst album of the year? "Worst" is only relative to what I've listened to this year with some shred of hope that the album will be at least somewhat redeeming. The 5 that were listed resulted in monumental failures - in my mind (which you still can't comprehend.)
You're bringing your own personal tastes into your argument, and calling them facts. Foolish. Originality is relative too, you know. Of course everyone writes their own songs - but who cares if they sound like every one of their peers - but worse. Now I have nothing against Punchline as people - in fact, I hear they're really nice guys - I just think their music is terrible. There is no vendetta. Just me thinking an album is god awful while people like you praise it (and others even more so than you) leaves me in absolute shock.
Go ahead and be in disbelief. You probably like Day at the Fair too - there's something wrong with people's ears in the northeast part of the USA. Give it up. I hate the album, as hard as that may be for you to believe - I really don't care, since it's my list and not yours. It stands as the worst album I heard this year. Learn to deal with opinions that are different than yours.

Just one or two final things from me and then I'll stop bugging you about this.
You say that you consider Punchline's album to be a monumental failure, but you said you never liked them to begin with... what the hell did you expect?
Also - i'm not sure I understand why you're hating on their vocals - I don't think Steve is going to try out for the three tenors or anything, but there are far worse singers (jesse lacey anyone?) on your list -- if you just want to say you don't like his voice, that's fine -- but I think you'll find a lot of people who feel he has a very decent voice.
I have no problem with you having a different opinion than me - to be honest, this is probably one of the only things I will disagree with you about on your whole list -- I think the rest of it is very justifiable - probably the only reason I'm bothering to type any of this out at all.. I like your taste for the most part, and can't figure out how you're so down on P-Line.
Whatever - only other thing worth mentioning is that WE >>>>>>>>>> Fifa. That's another story altogether though.
Bye now.

With all the praise the Punchline album was receiving, I expected an improvement. Duh. Plus, I try to give just about everything a fair chance. You don't have to understand why I hate the band - and I don't have to understand why you like them. Haha, you're "I can't figure it out" complex is hilarious. It's like this is really bothering you. Who cares - it's opinion.
And once WE gets licenses, we'll talk. I want to be able to play with any Italian or English team I want. And Fifa 07 for regular xbox is better gameplay than any of the WE games (for the first time it surpassed it) - but Fifa is ass on 360. I do agree that the WE series has better gameplay than all the Fifa games previous to 07.
I'm loving the Saves The Day love. And A Change of Pace...hahaha that's exactly what I pictured when I was thinking about worst album of the year. Well, that and Cute Is What We Aim For.
