i was listening to the news on the local free sheech radio (WMNF), and was shocked to hear that Ashcroft sentenced a man to 6 months in jail for "threatening the president's safety" only for having a sign that said "No War for Oil" at a previous protest.
umm...isn't that called Freedom of Speech? but i guess the government has taken all "freedom" away from even americans. also, I find it strange that the peace activists are being viewed as the dangerous ones.
maybe some of you will want to pass this on, cause you won't hear this on mainstream media like CNN or your local news stations.
here's a site with more stories to show how idiotic our government is:

I agree with evil zach. We have never actually had freedom of speech, the government just wants us to think we have it.

And besdies, in case your unaware, it's ALWAYS been a federal offense to threaten the President in ANY form or fashion.

You could be on a street corner waiting for the light to turn green and mention that you wanna kill Bush for a tax hike or something, and the Secret Service, FBI, or who ever can arrest you for threatening the life of the President...weather you were serious or not.

Besdies, he should be lucky that JAIL is all that may happen to him. In some other countries, he'd be dead already.

Ok. we should accept the injustices of our government becuase they arent AS BAD as others? what the fuck kind of logic is that?

I really dont think that there was a threat to the presidents safety. the govt was making an example out of this guy. all he did was prtotest. if we can jail people for whatever the hell our govt interprets as a "threat" to the president, what the hell happens to freedom of speech?

man. to think a Mest-fan of a fascist like yourself is entrusted with protecting "justice" in our country....

it isn't an injustice, the man broke the law, a law that has been on the books for years, and he was punished. and again, there is more to the story than a man holding a sign that says, "no war for oil"... but convienently it was left out of the original post.

Well, if only I were to judge people by there fucking SCREEN NAME....then I too could see things from your point of view. Apperantly, if someone doesn't share your views and opinions then they are wrong. I guess only the cops who would pat you on the back and say "Your right Matthew.." are fit to wear a uniform. Get over your fucking self. Just what the world needs....more self-important assholes.

You don't think there was a threat....well, shit...god damn the Secret Service for not consulting you and getting input from you on the situation. People who scream violation of Freedom of Speech have no fucking idea what that ammendment even means. NOTHING IN THIS WORLD IS FREE. Somebody should have popped your little bubble and told you that by now.
