How is the new gameplay engine and how is it different?

the new motion capture they used makes it feel so real. each pro has a specific motion for each and every trick and/or motion they make in the game (riding stance, the way they land, their grind position, the way they run, etc.)
nail-the-trick is very cool and makes the game that much more technical. you don't absolutely have to use it unless you're doing a nail-the-trick goal, but it is fun.
all in all, they tweaked it enough to make it interesting again. my only complaint is that the more i play these games, the more i start to see the fact that the board is attached to your feet... thats not how real skateboarding is, and once they find a way to make it feel like it's just an extension of the player's body and not actually connected like a limb, then they'll have something very special on their hands.
I loved the demo personally. It's good feeling the game get back to it's roots of, you know, skateboarding! Nail the trick is really fun and actually a lot harder than it looks. It's limited and very unrealistic, but it gives the game some variety.
It's the best since the pre-underground era, got it for the 360.

i bought it for x360. pretty sweet although i essentially beat it in a day or two. enjoyable at least, probably the best th in recent memory.

Is it any more difficult than the 2 THUG's or THAW? This is probably my favorite franchise ever, but I've been able to beat the last 3 games in about 2 days, and that's made even more ridiculous by the fact that I'm not very good. So is it harder, or pretty much the same as the last few?

Not as customizable as pass TH games, you essentially have to be a punk, a thug or a preppy little kid.

I think it looks really bad to be honest.

This got mediocre reviews for PS3... like a 7.0. Apparently it's buggy. I love TH games though.

IGN gave it a 6.3 for xbox and called it the worst tony hawk game ever and a disgrace to the series...I'm really pissed
Worse than THUG2? Seriously?
IGN can suck my balls for that rating.

i guess they made it really easy to manual, and now you don't even have to revert out of pipes, you can just manual and it'll continue the line. so lame. such a slap in the face to the loyal TH gamers.

I read the IGN review also. It seems like every aspect of controls are much easier this time around. Such a shame, cuz even though the old games weren't exactly hard, it was still fun trying to challenge yourself by getting higher combos. It seems too easy this time around to get hugh combos. Quite a shame. I'm curious to see what the Tony Hawk game for the Wii will be like.

Manualling is harder and soo is everything else(360). THUG is so much easier.
