I love the Lawrence Arms, though my favorite album would probably be The Greatest Story Ever Told. And that is Jawbreaker at their finest in the pop-punk sense, but I do love me some Bivouac. Uhh... to get back on topic.

The Lawrence Arms - The Greatest Story Ever Told
Jawbreaker - 24 Hour Revenge Therapy (don't consider Bivouac pop-punk)
Alkaline Trio - Goddamnit (yes, this is real pop punk in my eyes)
Lifetime - Hello Bastards

Dillinger Four's Situationist Comedy has grown on me more with each and every listen, to the point where it's my favorite album of theirs. I also love the Soviette's LP II and, of course, the greatest pop-punk album ever written: Milo Goes To College.

Real pop-punk?

Here's my thoughts anyway.

Blink-182 - Enema of The State
Descendents - Milo Goes to College
The Movielife - This Time Next Year

The first pop-punk song I ever heard was "Jinx" by a band called Nerve on a comp. But I never found out much about the band.

I love Homegrown. Well, everything except that awful EP they put out last year.

I quite enjoyed it. But prefered Kings of Pop.

i think its got a boat on the cover.

i dont know. my first concert was reel big fish/ goldfinger/ homegrown/ zebrahead when i was like 12, and i should have bought it there, but alas, i was a young child and had not known all i do now. then again if that was the case, maybe it wouldnt burn so much when i pee.

oh. ive found a board to torment again.

pop punk albums that are good? hmm...

Avoid One Thing's s/t was amazing, as was the follow up the song they did with Matt Skiba.

Chixdiggit's "Chronic for the Troops" was greatness, as was The Boomtown Rats "A Tonic for the Troops." Argue all you will, The Boomtown Rats defined poppy punk. The Cramps and Devo also had good pop punk albums in the 80s, much like The Descendents.

Diverging from that strain, and merging with the path everyone else has taken: Dillinger Four is amazing. Though "Situationist Comedy" is an amazing album, the gold goes to "Versus God." Hands down. It sounds rough compared to "Situationist," but its a much more solid album in my opinion. As for the Larry Arms, "A Guided Tour of Chicago" is a great album (especially "Kevin Costner"), but when I think of the Larry Arms I think of "Porno and Snuff Films," which was given to us on "Apathy and Exhaustion." When you listen to "Apathy" you melt into this state of awe only this trio can give (though, the other trio, The Falcon, gets you there too).

The best pop punk album of all time? I've been weighing The Donots with Face to Face, and Falling Sickness to Lagwagon. Frenzal Rhomb to The Living End, and Fifteen to Hi-Standard. The Descendents with The Damned, but the cake goes to Fifteen. Without a doubt "Swains First Bike Ride" is the best pop punk album of all time, though Fifteens best song, "Did You Know," appeared on the Hopelessly Devoted To You, Vol. 3 many, many years later.

Osker

amazing songs for a simple pop punk band. they never got much credit, but definately hit the spot for me.

Also the "short music for short people" album put out on fat wreck chords is essential. NOTHING gets you through long night drives on tour better.
