At a hearing on Tuesday, a judge ruled in Hawthorne Heights (http://www.hawthorneheights.com)' favorhttp://www.kingsofar.com, stating that the band has grounds for terminating their contract with Victory due to just cause, and thus the lawsuit is not over, as previously claimed by Victory Records. An official press release is expected in the very near future.

I never thought I would see people on this website saying good for Hawthorne Heights. I guess it takes the hate of Victory to push us to this point. I actually like the band and im glad they are getting away from Victory.

as much as I dislike HH's music, at least their their fighting against someone taking advantage of their music for his own gain. as for the other bands I love on Victory, I hope they don't have to go through the same bullshit.

Their new label (Virgin, i imagine) definetly hooked these guys up on their new deal.
Fuck what you thought you knew. These guys probably tripled their income.

I personally do not like the music of HH. But the guys in the band, as people are great. I have a lot of respect for them in that aspect. After all they did for Bayside after the John Beatz incident last year, carbon copy media (even if that is in the air, he is making an effort to expose new bands into the industry), and I have just heard they are nice guys to their fans. That last one I can't back up since I have never seen them live, nor have I met them. But from friends that have met them, they have told me good things.

I have a feeling The Junior Varsity is already going through the same thing minus the lawsuit bit. I was reading Andy's (TJV) myspace and he made a blog about how he hasn't received one dime from Victory, or something along those lines.

good.
its great how this summer on the warped tour i had 2 different bands that were on victory tell me how they dont get any support from their own record company. they are still on the label though, and they arent any of the bands trying to get out. i just simply said "yea im not a fan of your boss but you guys rock" and they agreed that brummel sucked as a boss and one band even mentioned that if they werent getting as big as fast as he hoped they were put "back shelf"
good for HH, woodruff is a good guy, very caring and loves all his fans, im not even a big fan really at all, but respect needs to be given to them.
i could see richard from drive thru and tony rolling around in money naked together.. haha they are both fucks

on another note i'm glad to see that HH got out of victory, no band should ever have to go through that....unless your bowling for soup, they deserve it

tony brummel isnt satan like many of you would like to believe. he runs his label very well, if he didnt none of you would know who he or any of his bands were. its a very common thing for bands to not like thier label as the label cant always provide the resources that band feel they deserve. with a roster boasting over 50 bands you can imagine that the label is constantly being asked for this or that.

good hopefully they can get this over with and move on to a label with someone who will actually help them, and not rob them. good luck with the rest of the case guys!!

Good for them. This is a huge hurdle they've passed, and it will definitely change the landscape of the relationships regarding contracts between bands and labels from here on out. I don't think many realize how much this could affect that band/label relationship.

im down with victory. they put our records in stores in hopes that consumers will buy them. They pay for music videos, they give bands enough money to fund a van, and they even take out commercial spots on tv.
Name another indie label that does that for NON metal bands. I know solid state and trustkill do, but for regular pop music, there are few labels that have the balls to do that.
Bands like hawthorne need to be thankful for what they have. Greediness is not a good trait. They arent owed shit. They owe all their success to victory. Every dollar of it. I want money. So does 95% of the population. You have to know when you're owed and when you're not. The desire for more money won't end until you have a few million.
Quit believing the messageboards. understand that victory would not still be a powerful record label if they were taking part in illegal activity. Did anyone here watch Fuse last year when hawthorne ads ran on nearly every commercial break? Does anyone have a clue how much that costs? Its not free thats for damn sure. Victory pays for it and has to be reimbursed by selling a product. It wouldnt make sense to have all those spots for hawthorne paid for by other bands. Your band has to make the money back or else its unfair to all the other bands. I dont want my cd sales paying for hawthorne heights commercial spots.

who gives a fuck where you want your cd sales going towards?
i don't think you can really make an argument that hawthorne is any more greedy than victory records. they are both looking out for their own ass. and victory records is just gay. and gay is still synonymous with shitty.

If a label can't satisfy all of their band's needs, then they shouldn't have over 50 bands on their label. Tony does this to himself when he decides to go sign however many bands a year.
