Hey,

I am doing my undergraduate thesis and I need some participants who are willing to answer some questions. The project is on the contextual evolution of the Jewish afterlife/eschatological views (Olam- Ha-ba, Gehinom/Gehenna, Sheol, etc...). You don't have to answer every question, and if you don't feel comfortable posting this in public you can email it to me (this way the information will stay completely private). the questions are purposely vague, and all but two can be answered in about a word, unless you wish to elaborate (please, if you can). The statistics of this material will be published, but your names/pseudonyms/avatars will not. email: hurley_999_17@yahoo.com

Which religious Jewish group are you most affiliated with (examples: reform, orthodox, etc..)?

How important do you think concepts of the afterlife are to your branch or Judaism?

How important is a belief in the afterlife to you?

Can you tell me a little about the afterlife, or world to come?

If you believe in an afterlife, which is more important to you, this world or the next?

Do you find it odd that of the 3 major Abrahamic faiths, that the original is the least preoccupied with what happens posthumously?

If you know a bit about the history of Judaism, can you point to specific events (Exiles, Shoah, etc...) or cultures (ex: the Babylonians, Zoroastrians, Canaanites, etc..) that may have dramatically affected Jewish attitudes toward the afterlife?

Thank you to anyone who takes the time, though I am not foolish enough to think that many (if any) will.
