So its that time of year where most high school seniors are applying/done applying to colleges. I was just wondering where some of you were thinking of going and what you might be majoring in.
I'm problably going to major in International Business. I applied to Maryland, Delaware, Scranton, Penn State, and West Chester.

please god do not go to west chester. why would you want to put yourself through another 4 years in the same place?
a great thing about college is that you can go somewhere you usually wouldnt go.

My sister went to West Chester and graduated in 99 from there and my dad went to Scranton back in the 1960s..The nice thing about going away to college is going somewhere that nobody knows you and you get to start fresh..thats what I liked about going away.

don't go to college. you will regret it. seriously. fight the system by not going to college. if you go you will be writing a paper on marriage practices in the kashmir at 2 in the morning and still have to read over fifty pages for history, and you have less than 7 hours to do it all while masturbating and watching adult swim!!!

I think Penn State Erie's the only branch worth going too.. cause its like self sufficient, and has state of the art engineering stuff... but I'm at main, so I really can't say anything, cause I'm a little bias.

i loved NEU when i visited it for a few days to see a friend in Jan. maybe it was just the fact that i absolutely loved the city of boston--except for the whole, ya know, red sox thing. ;-) if BU or NEU weren't so expensive, i probably would've transferred up there instead of to uconn. but, alas, $30K/year makes a huge difference.

yeah i mean NEU isnt a bad school ...they have good connections and I like the co-op program they have going on (you basically take 6 months off in the middle of your education to do a paid internship. a girl i work with is making $24 an hour for hers). But (as much as I hate to say this), BU is a great school. You'll get a much better education and you'll have great connections.
neu has more of a campus feel though ..BU is pretty much scattered across one of Boston's biggest streets over a mile or two of land. NEU is more compacted, for the most part.

don't go to NU ... the only thing good about that school is the co-op. BU is a much better school.
I didn't like that BU wasn't really a campus-y feeling. NEU at least felt like a small community. While walking around BU I just felt like I was hanging around city blocks, so NEU is kind of my first choice out of those two. And besides the co-op program for my major is amazing. So yeahh.

Hofstra's really one of my safety schools along with the SUNYs. It's decent for my major from what I hear and I have family that live like ten minutes away. I wasn't blown away with the campus or even the school really, but I figure if I need to be there for a little bit and transfer it can't be that bad. But with my grades and scores I think I can get in somewhere better.
i do not like american and the dorms at udel are blah. hofstra and suny i know nothing about.

I don't feel like applying to JMU! haha. I guess it wouldn't hurt, but I don't know if I'm feeling the whole Virginia thing. I didn't think the dorms at UDel were that bad. I saw Adam's and Jason's and they weren't horrible. Then the apartments you get when you're an upperclassman are sweeeeet. And I really liked the little town and all of that. So yeah. And American's amazing for international politics, obv. So they win for that reason alone.

Indiana Colleges and Universities are underrated. IUB's music program is ranked with the likes of Juilliard. The Kelley School Of Business is amazing and BSU's Education Program is tops. Purdue has an amazing Engineering and Technology program as well.

well i can tell you the apts at jmu completely obliterate udel haha. i have my own bathroom AND a walk in closet. and i pay 395 a month with utilities included in that. and i get a full bed...not a pussy twin.
maybe it was just the dorm i saw at udel...but it was ridiculously small and seemed real dirty and not nice.
i did like the small town feeling udel has but jmu had the same thing.
i ended up not applying to udel because the application process for them seemed annoying as hell.
american has an amazing inta program agreed...but the people there in general are doubers. the cool people go to gwu. haha.

The area around the WVU campus in Morgantown is beautiful. I seriously considered going there before deciding to stay home and figure out what I'm doing before I go away and spend all that $$ on a dorm and shit.
And I'm not even a big nature guy, it's just sick with the mountains and trees and stuff, especially in the fall.

Agreed. It truly is a beautiful campus. My dad went back to school there to finish his degree when I was younger, and I went to sit in on some of his classes. He absolutely loved it. I still have several friends that go there too that wouldn't transfer if they had to. The school is excellent and the scenery is fantastic. The only downfall was all the damn stairs. They kill.
I, however, hate the entire state of WV, so I wouldn't go there if I had to, even though I could go for free. Go figure.

agreed. I had to drive through west virginia once. I have to say that West Virginians are some of the UGLIEST people in america. granted, I was only in the state for about two hours, but I figure I got a pretty good consensus of the place. beautiful landscape, ugly people. plus, I watched that movie Wrong Turn, where there's those cannibalistic inbred hillbillies in WV hunting down people. scary shit, lol.

yeah, i'm in architecture, but i've been on the fence about switching to internat'l business with a focus on sustainable design. you guys study sustainable practices out on the the eastern seaboard? man, all east coast schools! you guys should really get out to california, i'm telling you. the weather is perfect, the girls are beautiful, and it's the fifth largest economy in the world (at least I think it's still ranked that high). the diversity out here is amazing. the only place I can imagine to be more beautiful in the US might be hawaii (I've never been there, but it sounds awesome from what I hear). Anyways, study abroad or something! expand your horizons and go someplace new. life is short.

That school was my first choice when I applied to colleges. Why don't you like it? I kind of fucked up when I applied to colleges. My heart was set on BU, so I didn't really apply to any other schools that I wanted to go to. I got in, but I got no money. No money, no going there.
So, I went to Manhattan because of the city atmosphere. The reasons I don't like are the following:
1. It's way too small.
2. It's Long Island removed pretty much.
3. The people are eeehh.
It reminds me too much of high school, but that's just me. I know people here who are absolutely in love with Manhattan. So, I guess it's a personal choice.

It definitely draws a lot from Long Island, but so does Albany, who I'm convinced let in everyone who applied. I've met some of the stupidest people on earth since I've been here.

i dont think i will regret it. i'll be about an hour and a half away from home, ill have smaller class sizes, which i can definately use, i can come home for math tutoring (which ill probably need to do, i dont really want someone who's about two years older teaching me), i can have a car, and i can get some of my generals out of the way for less money.

I go to PSU berks now and I like it, the classes are smaller, the campus isn't huge, still paying in state tuition, and on top of that, I still have the PSU name.
I would've gone to main but I didn't get in, so I'll do the two year switch up thing. I feel like it's better for me because I'm easily distracted anyway.

I've applied to Christopher Newport University, Old Dominion U. (accepted), Seattle U., Hofstra, Rollins College, and Salve Regina. I applied to a few more but I've all ready been rejected so there's no need to mention them.
CNU is my top choice right now, I haven't visited Hofstra or Salve Regina, but SR looks beautiful from pictures I've seen. Obviously Hofstra isn't a favorite in this thread, and I'm not exactly thrilled to get in. I saw Rollins and I really had no opinion of it, nothing really stood out to me and I realized I'm not a big fan of the state of Florida. I really liked Seattle but I have a personal reason why I wouldn't want to go there.

I only applied to small schools. I applied to Lynchburg, Randolph Macon, Heidelberg, Butler and University of Dayton. I'm planning to go to Randolph Macon.
