I've made this thread twice before I think and every time I find some new bands so it's worth it. Right now I'm digging The Spotlight and Fireworks the most. So if anyone can rec me some bands that sounds like The Mile After, All Time Low, Just Surrender (for some more famous examples) and that I probably haven't heard of, please fill me in on them. I'll even rec some myself...

www.purevolume.com/thespotlight - just really good
www.purevolume.com/fireworksmi - again just really good
www.purevolume.com/cardboardcutoutin - sounds like old all time low
www.purevolume.com/powerspace - the song Right On, Right Now is so catchy
www.purevolume.com/hollywoodave - umm, just good again
www.purevolume.com/fouryearstrong - Houston Calls meets Set Your Goals

So anything along these lines would be appreciated. Thanks

I Am The Pilot (http://www.myspace.com/iamthepilot)- Very similiar to Just Surrender, on the same label and from the same area.

The Bright Light Occasion (http://www.purevolume.com/thebrightlightoccasion)- Maybe I'm too easy to impress but I really like these guys.

You, Me and Everyone We Know- They're EP is up for streaming here, they remind me of I Am the Avalanche and a little Say Anything.

Far From Finished (http://www.myspace.com/farfromfinished)-Dropkick Murphys type stuff.

Urgency (http://www.purevolume.com/urgency)-Simple pop punk stuff, for fans of Cartel and Acceptance I guess.

Definitely. These guys are highly underrated. If Cartel and All Time Low were to reproduce, their child would be Time Tells All. But Cartel would be black and All Time Low would be white because the black skin color is the dominant trait and Cartel is more noticed than ATL.

Ugh.

No. Listen to the good bands from that area.

Chad is a good singer, but seriously, he's done much better projects than I Am the Pilot. They bother me so much...

Edit: Their new demos are not bad. I'd still take Amerosa though. But Amerosa was just experimenting for Pilot basically, so whatever.

By the way: The Morning Of's album should be released around April. I've heard some demos of new songs. It's incredible. Get excited.

To anyone who thinks their 'lack' of a keyboard/female singer will drag them down: You're wrong. Chris always wrote the piano parts anyway, but now that he's playing(recording, at least, and he plays on some songs live now depending on what the song needs.) it they sound so much more fluid and just excellent.

You're comparing All Time Low to The Maine? Oh God

While I'm not ecstatic about the progression toward mainstream All Time Low has made so far, they at least used to be (and still can be) an intelligent and quality pop-punk band (The Party Scene was a killer album). I can not remember a time when The Maine wasn't generic garbage. And even if you consider So Wrong It's Right and Nothing Personal "mainstream" pop-punk albums, they're still far above The Maine's music on any scale.

Just because two bands fall under approximately the same genre "labels" does not mean they sound the same. Regardless of how they are labeled, when you look at the material each band has produced The Maine's just does not measure up to All Time Low's (especially/more specifically ATL's earlier releases). That's my only point, even though I sounded like a douchebag making it, for which I apologize.

I'll even rec some myself...

www.purevolume.com/thespotlight (http://www.purevolume.com/thespotlight) - just really good
www.purevolume.com/fireworksmi (http://www.purevolume.com/fireworksmi) - again just really good
www.purevolume.com/cardboardcutoutin (http://www.purevolume.com/cardboardcutoutin) - sounds like old all time low

Some of these recommendations are fucking terrible, I seriously think some of you don't even know what pop-punk is. FTSK/YMA6 and others are not pop-punk...

All of these "pop-punk" bands coming out of nowhere is ridiculous... it seems we went from 2 to 200 in a year. Besides the obvious Blink/YC/TSL/NFG/FYS/SYG/Allister recs... the ones that I've picked out of the crowd:

The Swellers
The Wonder Years
This Time Next Year
Veara
I Call Fives
Fireworks
Hit The Lights
Man Overboard
Polar Bear Club
You, Me, And Everyone We Know

and maybe Title Fight... I know they're pretty well liked among pop-punk fans, although I'm not huge on them.
